Red Dot Digital Media recently partnered with Waikiki Shopping Plaza to design and install a network of four double-sided digital kiosk displays to promote newly opened restaurants and improve visitor navigation throughout the plaza. The kiosks provide visually engaging content that highlights each restaurant’s unique offerings while delivering clear, easy-to-follow wayfinding to help visitors discover and explore dining options throughout the property.

Installed in high-traffic areas of the plaza, the kiosks serve as central information hubs, combining dynamic restaurant promotion with intuitive mapping to enhance the overall guest experience.

As Waikiki Shopping Plaza expanded its dining portfolio with the opening of several new restaurants, the property team identified a growing need for a more effective way to communicate these new dining options to visitors. Traditional static signage lacked the flexibility to showcase multiple venues, highlight rotating promotions, and provide real-time orientation within the plaza. Red Dot was challenged to deliver a solution that aided in visibility and navigation.

The solution needed to be modern, intuitive for everyday staff to manage, and durable enough for consistent public use.

“The most meaningful projects are the ones that truly elevate how people experience a space," said said Darryl Kuder, CEO of Red Dot Digital Media. "These kiosks don’t just promote restaurants, they encourage discovery and remove friction for shoppers navigating the plaza. Just as important, we designed the system to be easy for the plaza team to manage and simple for us to support long-term. Delivering a solution that enhances the guest experience while remaining practical, serviceable and cost-effective makes this project especially rewarding for our team.”

Red Dot had a track record of delivering projects for high-profile clients across the island, which instilled confidence in their ability to execute seamlessly. Red Dot’s fully integrated approach managing software, hardware, and installation simplified what otherwise would have been a complex, multi-vendor undertaking.

“Working with Red Dot was a fantastic experience. Darryl and his team were highly professional, and the project was executed precisely as planned,” said Michelle Look, real estate manager at Waikiki Shopping Plaza. “The digital kiosks are sleek and visually striking, and the software interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, with customizable features that perfectly support the needs of our shopping plaza now and into the future.”

Red Dot designed and delivered a turnkey digital signage solution featuring four double-sided portrait kiosks equipped with 65-inch commercial displays. The kiosks were strategically placed to maximize visibility and ensure guests encountered relevant information at natural decision points throughout the plaza.

The digital experience was crafted to balance strong visual impact with ease of use. Restaurant content showcases branding, imagery, and highlights key culinary offerings, while integrated maps clearly highlight each location within the shopping plaza. The software interface allows non-technical users to easily update content, adjust layouts, and tailor messaging as restaurants evolve or new tenants are added.

Red Dot managed the project end-to-end, including system design, hardware selection, installation and software configuration, ensuring a smooth deployment with minimal disruption to plaza operations.

The kiosks now serve as effective promotional platforms for the plaza’s restaurants, while making it easy for guests to navigate to their chosen destinations. Visitors can quickly understand what dining options are available and where to find them, encouraging exploration and increasing overall engagement across the property.

The flexibility of the system ensures the plaza can continue evolving its content strategy over time to support new openings, seasonal promotions and updated layouts without additional infrastructure changes.
