NEXCOM Network Security Appliance Platform Utilizes the New Intel Xeon 5500 Platform

NEXCOM International launched its next generation of x-86 based network security appliances–the enterprise–level NSA 7110, supporting the new Intel Xeon processor 5500 series based on the latest generation Intel® micro architecture, formerly codenamed Nehalem, including an Integrated Memory Controller with DDR3 support. With advanced network connectivity and expansion capability, the NSA 7110 is the ideal platform for building network security applications (such as IDS/IPS, anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-spam and load balancing), and it is therefore intended for enterprise-class environments.

The NSA 7110 is a 2U 19" rack-mount form factor platform, based on the Intel® 5520 I/O Hub and the Intel ICH10R I/O controller. This product builds on the extensive line of full-featured dual-processors server boards to offer performance for today's applications and headroom for the next generation of Intel® processors. The platform supports two Intel Xeon processor 5500 series, max up to 24GB DDRIII system memory with six memory sockets, four swappable HDD trays, two swappable system fans and support for three independent LAN modules bays. The LAN modules have different functions, and include 4 LAN ports or 8 LAN ports with copper or fiber interface and 10GB feature. The NSA 7110 has unique function that supports PCIe EM module.

With a choice of Quad-Core or Dual-Core Intel® Xeon processor 5500 series, the NSA 7110 can easily be configured for various applications including firewall, VPN, Network load balance, Network bandwidth management, Anti-virus, Mail filter and many more.
