Digital Signage Tours Set for DSE

  • The Digital Signage Expo has announced its tours, scheduled for May 15th, to visit successful digital signage deployments in the Chicago area. The tour will visit: McDonalds on Orleans; Hyatt Regency on The Riverwalk ; The Legacy on Michigan Avenue; Virgin Megastore on Michigan Avenue ; and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
  • The new McDonalds Restaurant on Orleans Street in Downtown Chicago is a masterpiece of signage integration. Digital Signage carries selling messages on some screens, commercial television on others, and a visual tour of McDonalds' history on a third set of screens. The digital content is displayed alongside more traditional signage, backlit transparencies, and dioramas featuring products manufactured in Chicago through past decades.
  • The Hyatt Regency Chicago on The Riverwalk has deployed a variety of digital signage installations throughout this massive 2,019 room property. (And it includes two Panasonic 103 inch plasma panels, mounted with Peerless mounts... the largest commercially available plasma units currently available.) Touch screens allow guests to register themselves and find their way to meeting rooms, while independent and multiple screen information centers provide a calendar of events, weather, traffic and O'Hare departure schedules. Other signage networks display commercial television channels in the bars & restaurants.
  • The Legacy on Michigan Avenue was a condominium project with a problem: "How to show prospects what condos in a redeveloped office building will look like and just how spectacular will the views really be from your new living room window?" Digital signage kiosks within the sales center offer the experience to prospective customers that can select individual units from the 41st to the 65th floor, see floor plans, and experience the views and amenities - all on demand.
  • The Electronics Department at the Virgin Megastore on Michigan Avenue features touch-screens that help customers find and learn about digital cameras, cellular telephones, MP3 Players, Video Games, and I-Pods. Digital displays produce product information for customers on demand, display movie previews and demonstrate how products actually work. The smaller format screens take advantage of their location directly at the point-of-sale.
  • Tour Information: The three hour tour leaves the Hyatt Regency Chicago at 151 East Wacker Drive on Tuesday, May 15th at 2PM. Admission to the tour is very limited and is by ticket only. Tickets are available at $100 before April 17th and $150 thereafter on a space available basis.
