Scharff Weisberg To Offer Post Production Services

New York, NY -- Scharff Weisberg Media Resource Center (MRC) has entered the world of High Definition post-production. The company announced that it will now offer a full range of HD post services from 10 bit, uncompressed editing, to HD Windows Media 9 and HD MPEG 2 encoding. The company will support all of the HD formats and frame rates including the most widely used 60i, 24p and 720p HD standards.

The MRC's system is based around a dual processor G5 Macintosh and a 2.5 terabyte RAID array, which can store two hours of uncompressed HD video. The system also features the Aja HD Kona card which provides six channels of AES digital audio and 10 bit uncompressed HDSDI video.

"The new MRC facilities will reinforce the overall Scharff Weisberg commitment to HD. We believe that HD can be an affordable alternative for all types of presentations and will be the underpinning for a major leap forward in presentation image quality," commented MRC general manager Josh Nissim. "HD quality is no longer restricted to broadcast and cinema applications. It's now ready for everyday real-world applications and we plan on being a big part of that."

MRC anticipates new clients to come from the commercial, broadcast, presentation, fixed installation and independent feature industries
The new edit suite will also function in standard definition, taking advantage of the Aja I/O which can handle 10 bit uncompressed SDI, YUV, Composite and Y/C signals and AES, SDI and analog audio. The primary software interface is Final Cut Pro 4, but the company will also have a host of other applications for various tasks.

The Scharff Weisberg Media Resource Center provides post production services for the presentation professional. Services include presentation support; digital, non-linear editing; professional DVD authoring and MPEG2 encoding; multi-media compression services; and video transfers, duplications and international standards conversions.
