2008 Flat Panel Digital Signage Conference

  • DisplaySearch has unveiled the final line up of speakers for its upcoming 2008 Flat Panel Digital Signage Conference, called “The Future is Out-of-Home.” Presenters at the conference represent executives from a varied group of businesses who will present their views on the digital signage market and their visions for the next big market for flat panel displays – outside the home in public and commercial environments. The inaugural conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Chicago on May 28.
  • In the latest Quarterly FPD Public Display Shipment and Forecast Report, DisplaySearch revealed that over 1.1M larger size flat panel displays were shipped worldwide for public display/digital signage usage in 2007. By tracking commercially used flat panel displays dating as far back as 2004, DisplaySearch reveals as many as 2.8M larger-sized LCD and Plasma displays (26 inches and larger) have been deployed throughout the world for commercial usage. While the focus and momentum of the industry is currently on larger size flat panel displays, the number of displays sold for all types of digital signage networks – including smaller size displays such as those for in-elevator usage to gas station pumps to many other verticals – are even more astounding.
  • With this data as a backdrop, and the industry’s focus on larger size displays in out-of-home environments, DisplaySearch will kick off the conference with a detailed look at the markets currently deploying flat panel displays for digital signage by presenting market shares by brand and by technology. DisplaySearch will offer recommendations and analysis on how the market can achieve the forecasted sales rate of 7.2M units/year by 2015 for larger size displays alone.
  • The agenda for this year’s conference includes the following sessions:
  • Commercial-Use Displays Through the Eyes of the FPD Industry
  • Digital Signage at Work Today
  • Distribution: The Glue that Binds Vendors, Integrators and End-Customers
  • in rugged, outdoor environments.
  • It’s More than Just the Display
  • Crossing the Chasm from the Printed Page to the Digital Age

  • The conference will conclude with a guided tour of some key digital signage installations in the downtown Chicago area. This tour will be hosted by DisplaySearch at the conclusion of the conference and will also be available to attendees as a self-guided option upon check-in the day before the conference, allowing attendees to become better acquainted with some of the most unique installations in the world prior to a full day of learning, networking and collaboration.
