Interacting Schools Via Whiteboards And Funding

Pleasanton, CA - Polycom has launched its Instructor RP, integrating Polycom's VSX group videoconferencing and collaboration system with an interactive white board solution. Designed to provide superior videoconferencing combined with instructional tools, Polycom's Instructor RP will allow customers to use a system that integrates videoconferencing with an electronic white board without the use of a PC.

The interactive learning solution is a conferencing and instructional learning tool for all educational environments, corporate training and custom meeting environments. Trainers have the ability to use the interactive white board as their display device and by using a pen, annotate over content, curriculum or live video sources.

The fully integrated Polycom Instructor RP comes with the IP ready VSX 8000 and a six-port internal video bridge, which allows for connecting up to five other sites automatically: the PowerCam Plus, which automatically adjusts to the person speaking; the digital microphone array, which enables 360-degree voice pick-up; the annotation system, which offers the ability to annotate over video and content sources; and the self-contained rear projection unit with touch control and a 66-inch screen.

The Polycom Instructor RP features the ability to use touch control to operate the camera and the VSX user interface directly on screen, and simultaneous display of conference participants and data.

Polycom's educational solutions are approved for and receive federal and state funding in compliance with "No Child Left Behind" legislation and other programs. This endorsement allows schools to more easily take advantage of Polycom's Instructor RP, ClassStation solutions or any product within the portfolio for education. Polycom customers are also encouraged to take advantage of Polycom's Grant Assistance Program (PGAP), a free service designed to assist schools in every aspect of the complex process of finding and applying for grants; the Polycom Content Access Program (PCAP), a free service designed to assist schools in gaining access to standards-based content and electronic cultural field trips.
