NuVo Tuners Earn Energy Star Recognition

HEBRON, KY--Multi-room audio manufacturer NuVo Technologies has been informed that three of its tuners have earned the coveted Energy Star. A joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Star helps Americans save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. The tuners that have earned this distinction are the NV-T2SIR Dual SIRIUS-Ready AM/FM Tuner, NV-T2FAM-EX Dual AM/FM Tuner, and NV-T2DAB Dual Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) AM/FM Tuner.

The NV-T2SIR is available in North America; the NV-T2FAM-EX and NV-T2DAB are available in Europe. Their Energy Starqualifications denote that they exceed the program’s requirements for standby power consumption of less than one watt. The products additionally meet all RoHS requirements, which restrict use of six major harmful substances—lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether, all of which are deemed toxic to the earth and humans.

The three tuners join NuVo’s Essentia E6G six-source/six-zone multi-room audio system in earning the Energy Star. In 2007, NuVo’s Essentia E6G became the first multi-room audio system to receive this honor. NuVo continues to evaluate all of its products as they come to revision for their ability to likewise become Energy Star qualified.

“NuVo is extremely honored to receive the Energy Starfor three of our most popular tuners,” said David Rodarte, president and chief operating officer of NuVo. “Our energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly product development, combined with our systems’ unmatched price/performance, is truly resonating with installers and consumers in today’s value-focused marketplace.”

NuVo’s drive for Energy Star qualification was inspired by an Energy Star report that found that use of consumer electronics products is responsible for more than 25 percent of household electricity consumption—a number only expected to rise. Many end users are unaware that home electronics products use significant amounts of energy even when they're “off” in standby mode to power features like clock displays and remote controls. Electronics products that have earned the Energy Star, such as NuVo’s three tuners and its Essentia E6G system, meet the strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the EPA and DOE by using as much as 60 percent less energy to perform standby functions, while providing the same performance at the same price as less-efficient models.

NuVo’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental consciousness is evident across its entire product line and is an integrated component of its corporate philosophy. The OLED displays it uses in its Control Pads consume less energy than comparable LCD devices. Its use of Class D digital amplification and digital power supplies further reduces its energy consumption and footprint, making the products more convenient to implement for NuVo’s installers. NuVo’s packaging policy dictates removal of all non-compliant materials from its packaging configurations, thus reducing its use of non-environmentally friendly materials.
