Platt Prepares Major Study on Bank Market

Publish date:

The Platt Retail Institute (PRI) has announced that it will be expanding its series of studies on digital communication networks by conducting the most extensive study undertaken to date of their effectiveness in a bank branch environment.
The study, which will begin in January and be completed by April, will take place in various Harris branches. The results will be presented in a Working Paper entitled "Test Results from a Bank Branch Digital Communications Network".
"A robust digital communications network can have a very positive effect on the overall customer experience, no matter the industry," said Steven Keith Platt, Director, Platt Retail Institute. "In banking, it allows for a customized approach to customer communications, while simultaneously providing benefits to the customer through enhancements such as improved wait-time perceptions and personalized service."
The Platt Retail Institute initiates and secures funding of studies by its Research Fellows on retail business issues. It also provides consulting services on strategic and marketing-related issues, and serves as a conduit, bringing together retail executives with leading researchers. Recognizing this opportunity, the Platt Retail Institute (“PRI”) is undertaking the first major research study of a Bank DCN. On May 17 at 4:30 pm at the Digital Signage Expo in Chicago, PRI will present the background and its testing methodology related to this investigation...

Platt Retail Institute Expands Research

Steven Keith Platt, Director, Platt Retail Institute, Hinsdale, IL continues to believe that the long-term prospects for the Digital Communications Network (“DCN”) industry are outstanding. “As the industry matures, each deployment success and failure leads to a greater understanding of short and long-term sector deployment prospects. For instance, while the outlook for deployment in governmental applications is outstanding, recent events indicate that such opportunities will not mature for a long time. Similarly, we have advocated that traditional advertising messages will not work in the vast majority of retail environments, whereas promotional content does. As a result of this ad model focus, the uptake for various retail applications is lagging. On the other hand, such advertising can be successful in various out-of-home (“OOH”) environments. Due to this and other factors, DCN deployments in the OOH market are accelerating. “...
