Daktronics Unveils ProStar 3 Mill LED

Daktronics, Inc. has announced the debut of another extension to its ProStar VideoPlus product line. The Company unveiled its new, high-resolution ProStar full-color, light emitting diode (LED) display with picture elements (pixels) on 3 millimeter (0.1181 inch) center-to-center spacing at the 2004 International Sign Assocation (ISA) Expo and the 2004 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) spring show this month.

In the large screen video display industry, there is a constant demand for tighter resolution displays, said Daktronics video products manager Reece Kurtenbach. The addition of the 3 millimeter pixel pitch allows Daktronics to meet customers high-resolution video display requests.

The new pixel pitch uses surface-mount device (SMD), three-in-one light emitting diodes to create full-color video, images and graphics. By combining red, green and blue light, ProStar technology creates images in up to 4.3 trillion colors. The 3 millimeter pitch displays join a large family of other ProStar displays, including 6, 10, 12, 16.5, 20, 23, 34, 46 and 89 millimeter pixel pitch displays.

Using a modular design, ProStar displays may be constructed to any size and aspect ratio. The Venus 7000 controller and V-Link video processor allow ProStar displays to run highdefinition (HD) content.
