Realcomm Co-Locates with InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas

Realcomm, the annual conference and exposition on technology, automated business solutions and intelligent buildings for executives in commercial and corporate real estate, and InfoComm International, the trade association representing the commercial audiovisual industry and producer of InfoComm, the world's largest audiovisual tradeshow, have announced the co-location of events in 2010. Realcomm, with an expected 80 exhibitors and 1,200 attendees, will be held June 9-10, 2010 at the Las Vegas Hilton, alongside InfoComm 2010, with an expected 900 exhibitors and 32,000 attendees at the Las Vegas Convention Center. InfoComm 2010 will be held June 9-11.

Earlier this decade, the audiovisual industry was revolutionized when equipment could be networked over an IP network. Since that time, the role of AV in buildings has transformed from stand-alone equipment into complex systems that are integrated into the built-environment at the time of construction or renovation. As a result, building owners, CIOs, CTOs, and facility managers have traditionally attended both InfoComm and Realcomm. "InfoComm strives to provide our attendees with access to a wide spectrum of groundbreaking technologies and educational opportunities," said Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., executive director, InfoComm International. "By having Realcomm co-locate with us, InfoComm attendees can, as always, experience the latest in conferencing, digital signage, audio, lighting and more, while gaining additional value by connecting with leading vendors in building automation."

  • "The strategic significance of this co-location should not be overlooked. The bottom line is that all systems will inevitably be run over "one" standard IP network. The faster we get our property, facility, energy, audio visual, data and phone networks onto one network, the faster we will be able to achieve the efficiency and innovation that the 21st century will require of buildings," commented Jim Young, CEO and Co-Founder of Realcomm Conference Group, LLC. Attendees of both InfoComm and Realcomm will reap benefits. Realcomm registrants will receive complimentary access to the InfoComm 2010 Show floor and the close proximity will make it easier for attendees to participate in valuable education sessions offered at both events. "We also thought in this economy attendees would appreciate the cost-savings associated with having to travel just once to attend both events," said Young. "Combining shuttle buses and other fixed expenses will also help us benefit from economies of scale," said Lemke.
