Gary Plavin Highlights Performance Engineering As President Of projectiondesign

SCN: What is your position, and what does it entail?
Gary Plavin: I have served as the president of projectiondesign, LLC for seven years. Our company is tasked with the promotion, branding, sales, and support of all projectiondesign of Norway products in North and South America.

SCN: How has your background prepared you for your role?
GP: In my career I’ve worked in every step of the food chain from CE retailing and manufacturer’s rep, regional and national sales management, to product development and marketing. I have an intimate understanding of the challenges and processes necessary to execute and succeed. My background also gives me the hands-on experience to respond to channel needs and act so that product rollouts are a success.

SCN: What are your short- and longterm goals?
GP: Both my short- and long-term goals are to constantly provide additional ways for the integrator to add value to their client offerings through programs and services we can provide to the performance-oriented integrator.

SCN: Where do you see your market heading?
GP: I see our market pushing for higher resolutions, ever greater color gamut performance, truly seamless blending, and striving for quieter and ever more integratable solutions.

SCN: How can systems contractors better position themselves to profit from the products you have to offer?
GP: Fundamentally, systems contractors focused on performance engineering are positioned to benefit from the products projectiondesign offers as they are more confident in offering higher-value products to their clients. Our customers inherently know the value proposition of performance products versus box brands.
Contractors need to design and prove their systems in advance, so the installation crew only goes onsite once. They need to capitalize on our in-house pre-sales engineering support services. Additionally, installation crews need to always be equipped with the appropriate tools necessary to both install and calibrate the equipment. To that end, our company offers certification training and software tools to help speed this process for the integrator.
