POPAI Milestone International Board Meeting

  • POPAI, the nonprofit trade association for the Marketing at Retail Industry has announced that its Board of Directors held it first official meeting outside of North America, February 23-24th, in Dussedorf, Germany, calling the meeting “a significant a milestone for POPAI as it continues to add country chapters around the world. The meeting was being held in conjunction with the organization’s Global Leadership Council. This is the first time these two meeting have been held together and represents one of the largest assemblies of global leaders in the Marketing at Retail industry.
  • “This was a great day for the global Marketing at Retail industry,” said Kurt Witzel, POPAI’s Chairman of the Board and Sr. Mgr., Global Retail Marketing, for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. “Bringing leaders together from around the world to share successes and challenges furthers our ability to learn from each other in areas of shopper engagement, market development, regulatory challenges and operational plans,” explained Witzel.
  • A global dues structure resolution was passed. As a result, member companies with offices in multiple countries can pay one global rate and enjoy member benefits throughout the world. Prior to this, members paid separate membership fees for each country with a discount applied for additional country memberships.
  • The POPAI leadership meetings were planned to coincide with EuroShop 2008, the Global Retail Trade Fair. For the 16th year Messe Dusseldorf staged the worlds leading event for the retail industry in neighboring Dusseldorf. EuroShop 2008 presents the global retail market and points the way for the future of retail. POPAI members from around the world presented their products in the "POPAI VILLAGE". In addition, POPAI CEO, Dick Blatt, the POPAI Board of Directors and the Global Leadership Council opened the International EuroShop POP Conference. All 20 Country Chapters were represented at the EuroShop events.
