Gerry Thorley, chief executive officer of Eye Group, has announced the appointment of David Gibbs to CEO Eye Media, North America. His appointment follows the evaluation of new opportunities for Eye over the past six months and his permanent relocation to New York last month.
Mr Gibbs has been with Eye since 2001 and was instrumental in the establishment of Eye Shop in Australia and New Zealand. In his former role as general manager Eye Media, David was responsible for developing opportunities across all formats - Eye Drive, Eye Fly, Eye Shop and Eye Plus.
Mr Thorley said: 'David's expertise in the Out-of-Home sector combined with experience in other media such as radio will be key in developing Eye's business in North America.'
'The appointment of the CEO role for North America is crucial to the ongoing success of Eye and its launch into this new market,' he commented.
Originally established in Australia in 2000, Eye has expanded its business both geographically and by product and is fast becoming one of the world's most innovative Out-of-Home media companies. In addition to the expansion into North America, in June this year, Eye was appointed to the Manchester Airports Group plc establishing Eye in Europe, while the expansion into Asia was cemented at the start of January 2006 with the appointment of Changi Airport.
Mr Gibbs commented on the rapid expansion of the business of Eye in North America. 'The Out-of-Home medium is experiencing a resurgence globally and Eye is well positioned for this with offices around the world.'
Eye has offices in and operates roadside billboard, airport and shopping mall media businesses in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, Europe and North America.
