First Pan-European Digital Signage Show Announced

DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXPO 2008 will be held May 6 – 8, 2008 at Messe Essen in Essen (near Düsseldorf), Germany, and will be the first Pan-European trade show exclusively focused around Digital Signage. It will cover all relevant topics such as in-store TV, digital media, ad screens, content and solutions.

The event will be held parallel to the world's largest trade event on self-service, KIOSK EUROPE EXPO 2008, allowing visitors to cover the entire spectrum of modern consumer communications technology in one visit. The combination of high-impact digital signage advertising solutions with interactive self-service solutions is tipped by experts to be the next big thing in retail technology.

Hughes Network Systems have already confirmed participation at the exhibition, and have even assumed the position of Platinum sponsors as a mark of commitment to the new event.

Fabian Keller, Director Media Business Hughes Europe, about the sponsoring commitment: "Mass Media is changing throughout the world, driven by the consumer's desire for relevant and situate adapt information, and the developing media landscape. Hughes invests in the Digital Signage market on a global scale and we are pleased to be part of the presentation of this exciting media theme to industry, retail and the public … We at Hughes believe in the sweeping success of Digital Signage and that such complex projects can only be realized through collaboration of many specialists."

Karin Wunderlich, Managing Director of event initiator and mentor POPAI, comments,

"Before today there have never been such revolutionary changes at the POS, POI (Point of Information) und POC (Point of Consumption), with the arrival of digital media and digital signage. We are convinced that future brand and corporate communication will be placed right at the point of sale, point of information or point of consumption to target the consumer effectively at exactly the right moment.

"This showcase will make it possible to see marketing and communications solutions with a holistic concept behind them," continues Wunderlich. "We are very excited to offer our members, as well as the entire market, an unbiased forum to showcase the extraordinary power and potential of today's digital signage solutions. We are absolutely convinced that sooner, rather then later, a large proportion of advertising at the POS will be digital. We want to see the process of establishing Digital Signage as a medium accompanied by information, insight, solutions and enthusiasm. The DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXPO 2008 is an essential milestone on this journey."

POPAI, the global association for marketing at retail, and hf media & events,

Europe's trade publisher and event organizer for the interactive self-service

market, entered a partnership to stage DIGITAL SIGNAGE EXPO 2008, and hf media & events' Managing Director, Jens Schindler, said, "We are delighted to benefit from POPAI's market know-how and networking, and we will bring our marketing and event organization experience to the table."

The event is set to be a truly pan-European trade show, matching the international profile of the media and advertising industries. In addition to the exhibition itself, the event will feature an innovative conference program, an introductory forum and a test-drive parlor, enabling visitors to experience the technology's potential first-hand. Entrance to the show is free for pre-registered visitors.
