ViewSonic Announces Digital Signage Partnership With Scala at DSE 2010

  • ViewSonic announced a partnership at Digital Signage Expo (DSE) 2010 with Scala that will enable ViewSonic to offer customers the broadest range of Scala-compatible digital signage devices on the market today.
  • According to ViewSonic, Scala has certified its preconfigured PC-based Scala-ready player, as well as a line of solid state Scala-enabled media appliances that are compatible with Scala Release 5.
  • “This offers customers a true one-stop shop, covering the widest range of pre-configured Scala-certified playback devices of anyone in the world,” said Jeff Porter, executive vice president of Scala.
  • This includes support for “audio-only” players, wireless photo frames, standard definition (480p) players, high-definition (1080p) players, as well as two full-PC compatible media players — the NMP-700 features a core 2 duo processor with Intel GM45 graphics, while the VOT132 features a dual core Atom processor with NVIDIA ION graphics. This partnership allows the companies to significantly reduce the overall system costs for users.
  • “ViewSonic is committed to serving as a one-stop solution provider for resellers’ display and media player needs,” said Michael Holstein, vice president of business development for ViewSonic. “Offering a complete digital signage solution set through our expanded product line and software partnerships with industry leaders such as Scala, ViewSonic brings resellers and distributors the convenience of buying from one distributor when putting their system together.”
