The Central Group is a winner of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies program for 2007 – sponsored by Deloitte and Touche, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post and Queen's School of Business.

Established in 1993, the Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies is a national awards program, recognizing Canadian companies that have implemented world-class business practices and created value in innovative ways. Applications are reviewed by an independent judging panel that evaluates how companies address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems, and hiring the right talent to facilitate growth.

In addition to this exciting news, The Central Group is in the final stages of a re-branding initiative. It has changed its name from Central Graphics and Container to simply The Central Group. The name creates an umbrella under which Central can create complimentary but distinctly separate business units. As an example, it will be combining two facilities into one 104m sq ft building that will serve as its Innovation Centre that will focus primarily on the Display business segment. Within the past year, it has also added some seasoned Marketing at-Retail veterans to bolster its growth for this business unit. The first significant addition to the team was Domenic Cecol who is the director of Marketing at-Retail. Domenic brings a wide breadth of knowledge including advertising agency related perspective. He was joined a little later by Tom Ujfalassy (former chairman of POPAI) as director of New Concept Marketing and the most recent addition is Greg Wege, who is director of Display Sales.

The packaging business segment, which continues to be an essential part of Centrals offering, is also going through a transformation with the goal to bring new innovative opportunities to a business that continue to see challenges. Products such as wax replacement coatings and fanfold create opportunities to focus on sustainability as a means of adding value to packaging customers.
