HES' Spherical Mapping for DL.2

High End Systems introduced a new software feature, Spherical Mapping, for its DL.2 Digital Light and Axon media server. The v1.3.2 software advances the edge-blending collage generator software of the two products, and is available now for download on the HES website. The global matte effect allows the user to superimpose up to 20 different pre-defined Mattes for layering images with multiple transparency and color options.
Framing and edge fade profiles have also been added to expand the existing edge fade parameters. For example, the user may create stylized framing by using other layers as content for the edge fade. The user may also create "framing shutter" effects. The software also resolves some connectivity issues many laptop users faced when using multiple network connections simultaneously. Sennheiser Mobile Transmitter For Guideport

Sennheiser has added Mobile Transmitter to its Guideport wireless, multi-lingual visitor information system. The belt-worn Mobile Transmitter and headset gives tour guides or docents speaking to a group with preassigned Guideport receivers and headphones the flexibility to mix their live-guided tour with prerecorded audio at the press of a button.
The Mobile Transmitter Guideport wireless system monitors the location of the tour group so that when the guide switches to prerecorded audio, visitors hear content that is context appropriate, it matches the exhibit to which the tour guide has directed them. This frees the guide from the distracting and easily bungled task of triggering the appropriate audio clips. Moreover, the prerecorded audio is language/content appropriate, each visitor listens to it in his or her preferred language and at his or her own level of expertise (e.g. child, adult, or expert). This does away with the "one size fits all" approach that is guaranteed to leave a significant fraction of visitors dissatisfied.

American DJ's P64 LED UV Ultraviolet Par Can

With American DJ's introduction of the P64 LED UV Ultraviolet Par Can, "black lighting" has entered a new phase of high-tech sophistication. The latest addition to American DJ's series of LED-based par cans, the DMX-compatible P64 LED UV spot is designed for any applications that call for the hypnotic glow and mood effects of ultraviolet light. Equipped with 151 ultraviolet LEDs, the P64 LED UV provides super smooth projection on stages and surfaces. It features a 15-degree beam angle for long-throw applications.

The unit is energy-efficient and runs on low voltage, with a maximum power consumption of 21 watts, so clubs and theaters will save big on electricity bills. The spot's LED lamps also have an exceptionally long lifespan, which severely diminishes the expenses of maintenance and lamp replacement. Since LED lighting fixtures produce very low heat compared to traditional par cans, the P64 LED UV helps maintain a comfortable temperature for musicians and performers. The lamp will never cause fading or discoloration when placed near an object, so the P64 LED UV is also great for highlighting close-range displays and exhibits. QSC's HPR122i loudspeaker

QSC's new HPR122i powered loudspeaker can be pole-mounted using a stand socket, or flown with the aid of nine integral M10 suspension points. Built to meet the same demanding specifications used to create the RMX line of amplifiers, the HPR122i power module provides a total of 500 watts. Offering those who might be considering plastic-box speakers an opportunity to upgrade to the professional performance and appearance of a higher-powered, plywood enclosure system without paying a large weight and cost penalty, the HPR122i is operable between 53 Hz and 20 kHz. Equipped with a 12-inch low frequency driver featuring a three-inch voice coil and neodymium magnet structure, the two-way enclosure features a compression driver with a 1.4-inch diaphragm coupled to a 75-degree conical horn at the high end.

Unlike some powered loudspeakers incorporating low-cost "chip amps", the HPR122i's proprietary power module incorporates the same circuit designs used on QSC's top-selling RMX Series amplifiers. Thick, deeply-finned aluminum heat sink extrusions offer mechanical strength and an abundance of surface area that promotes cool operating temperatures, even when the loudspeaker is pushed to extremes. Renkus-Heinz's Passive Arrays

Renkus-Heinz's self-powered IC7 and externally powered ICX7 Iconyx array modules are passive linear arrays with fixed beams that can be steered mechanically. The new additions to the Iconyx line will supplement Iconyx digitally controlled array systems in venues needing side and front fill coverage. They also offer a low cost solution for applications that don't demand the programmable control and precise coverage afforded by Iconyx digitally controlled array systems. The IC7 is self-powered and the ICX7 is designed for use with an external amplifier. Both feature seven high performance four inch coaxial transducers in an architecturally transparent enclosure that is just 44 3/8 inches tall, 5 11/16 inches wide and 4 3/8 inches deep.

The self-powered IC7 incorporates a purpose designed PF series intelligent digital amplifier. A switching power supply and integrated Speaker Specific Processing make this PF series amplifier ideal for use inside the IC7: it is light in weight and 93 percent efficient, eliminating the need for a cooling fan. Iconyx digitally controlled array systems integrate advanced technology to provide both natural music and intelligible speech, even in the highly reverberant environments typically encountered inside architecturally distinguished buildings. Ultralife Batteries' PowerBug 9-Volt Lithium Battery

Ultralife Batteries introduced the PowerBug 9-volt lithium battery to serve the music-audio market. The PowerBug lasts up to five times longer than standard alkaline batteries, without having to pay five times the price, allowing musicians and sound professionals an opportunity to save a significant amount of money while eliminating the hassle of changing batteries after each gig or each set. And because the PowerBug has a flat discharge curve, meaning the battery operates at a higher voltage over a longer period of time, instrument electronics will benefit from increased headroom, resulting in a much cleaner and crisp sound that alkaline batteries simply cannot match.

Already in use by world-class bass players, national & regional bands, and high-end instrument makers, the PowerBug is now available to ship within the continental U.S. PowerBug 9-volt lithium batteries are used in many music and sound applications such as: basses, guitars, in-ear systems, transmitters and receivers, effects pedals, tuners, preamps, wireless microphones, and more. PowerBug batteries are only available on the PowerBug web site, powerbug.com.

Soundcraft's Vi6 Processing Card

The release of the new Processing Card for the Soundcraft Vi6 brings Lexicon effects and BSS Audio equalization to this digital console. The card uses eight custom Lexicon DSP engines to provide eight mono or stereo effects units, which may be patched to aux bus outputs and then back into a channel input, or inserted into input or output channels. The real flexibility, however, comes from being able to control these effects via the desk's Vistonics II screens, which give the engineer a comfortable graphical user interface, something the Soundcraft Vi6.

The Lexicon devices offer a choice of 14 types of reverb, including various plates, halls and spring types, seven delay settings (including ping-pong and tape delays, for example), plus eight other effects, such as chorus, flanger, tremolo and pitch shift. Once selected, the parameter controls appear on the rotary encoders on the Vistonics II screen.

The new card also provides a 30-band graphic EQ on every output (35 outputs), controlled by the first 30 channel faders once the output graphic EQ icon is pressed. The Soundcraft FaderGlow system now changes the faders to red (the same color as the channel EQ on Vistonics II) and each fader controls one of the 30 frequencies, which are shown in the channel label display. A composite EQ curve is generated and displayed on the Vistonics II screen for that output. For more information visit www.harmanpro.com.
