TV Magic Engineers AV Facilities for Award-Winning Expansion at City of Mission Viejo Community Center

SAN DIEGO, CA--Broadcast systems integrator TV Magic announced that the company provided engineering and installation services for the award-winning 13,000-square-foot expansion of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center in Mission Viejo, Calif. The facility expansion accommodates the community’s needs for meeting and event space, and the AV facilities installed by TV Magic within the new wing bring flexible multimedia display and presentation capabilities to its multipurpose and meeting rooms.

“The expansion of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center provides needed local space for meetings and business functions while also giving us the opportunity to increase the programming we offer to area residents,” said Karen Wylie, deputy city manager for the City of Mission Viejo. “TV Magic was very involved throughout the process and helped us better understand our options and what kind of equipment we needed to consider. The company delivered quality work and equipment in previous installations for the city, and we’re very excited about the successful completion of this project.”

In recognition of the expansion project’s success, the City of Mission Viejo earned a 2008 Project of the Year award from the Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA). The new wing more than doubles the size of the community center, making space available for city programming and use by resident groups, businesses, and other organizations.

The new multipurpose room at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center features a stage for performances and concerts and also is equipped with a projector and a large display screen for a variety of video and computer-generated presentations. The space also can be split into two distinct areas to suit smaller events, and TV Magic installed an audio system that enables use of the area in single and independent split-room configurations. Each of the two additional meeting rooms is equipped with a display screen and audio system. Video displays situated in the lobby keep visitors up to date on city information and events and programming at the facility.

In addition to two Sanyo PLC Series projectors, a 50-inch Panasonic HD plasma screen, and a combination of JBL 26CT in-ceiling and EAW VR51 full-range speaker systems, TV Magic installed an Extron CrossPoint matrix switcher for audio and video switching, along with Marshall 15-inch rack-mount LCD monitors, a BSS Audio digital signal processor, wireless AV transmitters from Communications Specialties, and an AMX control system with a wireless touch panel and intercom.
