NEC’s Best of InfoComm in Place for Expo

David Keene

  • NEC recently announced its “Best of InfoComm” Award to be given to the best product or service at InfoComm 2010. The winning company will be awarded $25,000 to be donated to the charity of its choice. And I’m honored to have been chosen by NEC to be one of the judges for this program, again this year.
  • Nominations from InfoComm exhibitors will be accepted at http://www.necdisplay.com/best/ through April 30, 2010.
  • Da-Lite Screen Company was the inaugural winner of the award in 2009. The AV pioneer selected the Infocomm Education Foundation as its recipient and matched the gift for a total donation of $50,000.
  • It was an interesting and diverse group of finalists in last year’s contest. Also in the running in the 2009 contest were:
  • BTX Technologies … their ProBlox is an all-in-one connector system offering a cost-effective solution for bundling numerous signals. It combined 16 HD video and 26 audio/control contacts in one connector, allowing for fast and simple setup and tear-down in pro A/V applications such as digital signage, rental and staging, corporate, education, house of worship, and more, saving installers both time and money
  • Provider Series LLC… The Head Clip takes any lavalier microphone you have and instantly turn them in to a headworn microphone.
  • SMART Technologies.. SMART Technologies will introduced at InfoComm 2009 their SMART Board 685ix interactive whiteboard system, with an ultra-short-throw projector (this is going to be an even hotter category this year: interactive displays using ultra-short-throw projectors)
  • Tecom Electronics Ltd….. A stable, sleek, fully ADA complaint lectern for any classroom, boardroom, or training facility. Fully digital with a computer, DVD player, a laptop docking port and USB connections, it interfaces easily with all kinds of projectors. Its 19-21 inch interactive widescreen allows for live annotation, ensuring lecturers can add to their content on the fly.
  • I will have to say, last year, and no doubt this one too… digital signage products are rising on the radar at InfoComm.
  • “InfoComm is a true audio-visual marketplace of ideas,” said Ashley Flaska, Vice President of Marketing for NEC Display Solutions. “As a long-time supporter and exhibitor of this event, NEC has witnessed the transformation of organizations through AV technologies and services. We’re honored to again be sponsoring the award to recognize such successes.”
  • Nominations from InfoComm exhibitors will be accepted at http://www.necdisplay.com/best/ through April 30, 2010. Eligible products and services must be on display at InfoComm 2010 and have first-customer-ship dates between January 1, 2010, and September 30, 2010. Only one entry per exhibitor will be accepted.
  • Public voting for the best entry will occur May 1, 2010, through June 4, 2010. The five entries with the most public votes will be announced at NEC Booth No. N903 on the first day of the conference by a panel of impartial industry experts. The sole winner will be selected on June 11 and be presented with the “Best of InfoComm Award” by NEC Display Solutions President and C.O.O. Pierre Richer.
