Almo Launches Pro-AV Division

Sam Taylor (left), executive vice president and COO of Almo Professional A/V, is congratulated by Randal A. Lemke, Ph.D., Executive Director, InfoComm International, on the launch of Almo Professional A/V.

Almo Corporation (Booth 2881), a leading U.S. distributor of consumer electronics and appliances, is launching a new value-added professional audiovisual distribution division, to be led by industry veteran Sam Taylor.

“Almo sees this as a good opportunity to grow its pro market, and the goal is to be the leading value added distributor in this space,” says Taylor, speaking at InfoComm. “We want to be a one-stop shop, providing commercial- and consumer-grade products, such as LCDs, projectors, specialty displays, videoconferencing, audio, mounts and more.”

Taylor has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Professional Audio/Visual Division of Almo. Having been in the industry for nearly a quarter- century, he was most recently with Electrograph Systems for 22 years, serving as president for 15 years. While Almo is based in Philadelphia, the new division will be headquartered in Maryland. “I’m going to have 20-25 people that were past employees of Electrograph joining me to start this up,” says Taylor.

The new division’s anticipated launch date is July 1, but Taylor is at InfoComm to spread the word and build momentum for the venture: “This is an opportunity for us to meet with vendors who are going to come on board with us. Almo has a rich 63-year history and prides itself as a distributor with operational excellence. There’s a void right now in the pro-AV space for a strong valueadded distributor, and Almo is positioned to take the lead.”
