SoundTube to Offer Training on UL and NFPA at InfoComm

  • PARK CITY, UT--SoundTube Entertainment will conduct a Manufacturer Training session at the upcoming InfoComm show on “Understanding UL and NFPA.” The session, to be held Thursday, June 10 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, will provide a brief review of the new NFPA-72 2010 standards and how they affect the commercial audio installer.
  • The revision to the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, the most extensive revision in 17 years, has expanded the Code’s scope and organization beyond its core focus on fire alarm systems to also include requirements for mass notification systems. Those systems are used for weather emergencies, terror events, biological, chemical and nuclear emergencies, and other threats. Specific to installers of speaker systems, the revised code includes new requirements for voice intelligibility.
  • “In our session, we will look at the changes to the fire prevention standards, discuss how the new standards will affect distributed audio or mass notification, and discuss solutions for the new requirements,” said Dave Staley, VP of operations for MSE Audio Group. “We will also discuss UL listing requirements for speaker installations and how the installer can be certain that the speakers specified for a project are listed to the appropriate UL standards.”
  • InfoComm attendees interested in participating in the course can find more information on the InfoComm show website, Manufacturer training courses cost $25; attendees receive a $25 coupon good for merchandise in the InfoComm store at the convention.
