BTV+ Taps Perry, Unveils Interactive Products

  • BTV+, a provider of satellite delivery of interactive content for digital signage, distance learning, and multi-location communications, made a significant product release in their inaugural appearance at National Retail Federation's Annual Convention & EXPO. The Expo was earlier this week in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
  • Under the guidance of CTO Bill Barr and Solutions Designer Steed Ferns, the BTV+ team unveiled live interactive multimedia products, adding a live on-screen interactive element will allow customers a greater level of communication resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction, increased sales and ultimately a more loyal patron, according to the company.
  • The product provides retailers with a variety of tools including live customer virtual service attendant, product locator, price check, gift and loyalty card dispensing, employee training, video on demand and more. Because the product uses two-way real-time live person audio/video interaction between the retail site and the virtual attendant, both parties are able to view each other allowing for a variety of interactive training applications, up selling and product education.
  • "This product is unlike any in the retail market," said CTO Bill Barr. The lengthy list of benefits to a store operator and the retailer include savings in headcount, increase in loyalty and customer service effectiveness and for the buyer, a more authentic means to track customer habits and product requests."
  • BTV+ has also announced the hiring of Rich Perry to fulfill the newly created position of Director, US Sales. This step further solidifies BTV+ as a key player in developing networks in the US for training, corporate communications and digital signage.
  • Perry will concentrate on developing new business in all core competencies of BTV+: Interactive Distance Learning, satellite services and the Business Television sector while focusing on Digital Signage opportunities.
  • "This is exciting time in our industry and it is the right time to more firmly establish our US Sales presence,' said Tae Kim, President and CEO of BTV+. "Rich brings to the table a wide range of expertise in the communications arena which will make a difference for us in all areas of the products and services we offer."
  • Perry and the technical and sales support team will be based in Troy, MI.
  • Perry has played a leading role in deploying television marketing, communications and learning initiatives over many years working with Fortune 500 companies focusing on retail and financial markets. As a veteran of television in the Detroit market, he accumulated several awards for his creativity and production execution. Since 1999, he has been a part of the audio/video integrated services industry, most notably launching the Borders Books and Music digital signage network initiative, the first digital signage network utilizing Sony products. Additionally, he has developed and deployed projects with Wal-Mart, American Eagle, Nintendo, Fidelity Investments and others.
  • "I am very happy to be with this great team of seasoned industry professionals. The potential for this market and the innovative applications that will drive it is tremendous," says Mr. Perry. "BTV+ is well positioned in the marketplace and I look forward to expanding on the successes that this company has created over its 25 year history."
