SVSi Offers Streaming HD Video Over Existing Data Networks

  • Southern Vision Systems, Inc. (SVSi) has announced a major firmware upgrade to the voLANte digital content distribution system. The upgrade allows transmission of multiple HD video streams over any local-area-network that is used for transporting data. Using SVSi’s proprietary transport compression algorithm, the voLANte AV transmitter reduces video bandwidth to levels compatible with common data networks while maintaining visually loss-less video quality – even for multiple independent HD video streams. A voLANte receiver at each display accepts the video packet traffic, synchronizes video and audio and presents to an unlimited number of displays.
  • “One of the challenges for this upgrade was maintaining voLANte’s exceptional video quality during transport through common, inexpensive network switches and fiber extenders,” says Andy Whitehead, president of SVSi. “We used the new firmware in recent installations that required multiple, bidirectional HD video streams. We had great results that successfully demonstrate not only voLANte’s compatibility with existing data networks but also its scalability and flexibility.”
  • Through voLANte Conductor management software, integrators can adjust packet transport settings to optimize integration with existing data networks. High-resolution HD video or computer graphics is transmitted point-to-point or point-to-multipoint over gigabit Ethernet network appliances.
  • VoLANte, an acronym for “Video Over LAN Technology,” offers broadcast-quality HD video and stereo audio over Ethernet. The voLANte digital content distribution system offers simple integration with existing network hardware, delivers synchronized digital video and audio to an unlimited number of HD displays over unlimited distances, and is easily expandable. Multiple streams of high-resolution, high-definition digital content can be narrowcast point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, or daisy-chained for professional audio/visual applications. Video and audio is managed through voLANte transmitters and receivers that also function as network switches.
