CHATSWORTH, CA--Sanyo North America Corporation announces the promotion of Sam L. Malik to the position of vice president of Sanyo North America Corporation and General Manager of the Presentation Technologies Group. Formerly Director of Sales and Marketing for the Group, Malik will assume his new responsibilities on April 1, 2010.
Ascending rapidly to the position after joining the Sanyo management team, Malik is a long-time California resident who is based at the Sanyo Consumer Solutions Division office in Chatsworth, California. His promotion enables Sanyo to operate with their top management staff based within the Chatsworth office. Malik will serve as the day-to-day general manager, drawing upon over 16 years of executive experience in the presentation industry. As a 13-year stint as Director of National Sales and Marketing for Toshiba America, he oversaw the launch of his business unit and developed multiple distribution channels in North and South America.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to assume this key role in the Sanyo management team,” said Malik. “With the ability to be involved in all aspects of the operation, I look forward to meeting my goals of further expanding our position as the technology leader in the presentation industry, and continuing our sales growth in the consumer, commercial and Pro AV channels.”
“We are very pleased to announce the promotion of Sam Malik to Vice President of Sanyo North America, and his new role as General Manager for the Presentation Technologies Group,” said Sam Murata, president of Sanyo North America. “Sam’s energy, depth of experience and comprehensive background in presentation technology make him well suited for these new positions and responsibilities. We will rely on his leadership skills and on-site presence to provide the direction needed to effectively manage and grow our organization.”
Malik will assume some of the responsibilities currently held by Mark Holt, who will now focus his efforts on driving sales as director of sales of the presentation technologies group. Holt, who has been a key part of the Group since 2000, will continue to work from outside the Chatsworth office and to work closely with key customers.
