InfoComm 08 Hosts Signage Software Panels

InfoComm 08 – taking place in Las Vegas, NV June 14 - 20 – will be the scene for two separate panels addressing the issue of digital signage software. Both panels – one in the Strategy Institute Digital Signage Technology Summit, and the other as part of the InfoComm educational track – will be moderated by Lyle Bunn, principal and strategy architect of Bunn Co.

On Monday, June 16, at the Las Vegas Hilton, the Digital Signage Technology Summit will stage "Software Options: A Framework for Selection to Ensure Interoperability, Fit and Success." Taking place at 11:30 a.m., this panel will address the core of a digital signage project: the software platform. A robust system can intelligently create, format, and manage content, scheduling, and data. Given the myriad of choices available on the market, this session offers a guide to the following:

•Learn how to determine your needs and resources for the best fit

•Explore security, scalability, digital rights management, and bandwidth control

•Consider reporting mechanisms – error logs, feedback loop, etc.

•Make an informed choice when it comes to your software investment.

Members of the panel include:

Tom Nix, VP & GM, Dynamax Technologies LLC

Ted Dembicki, VP of Business Development for InfoCaster Digital Signage, Harris Corporation

Michael N. Smith, WireSpring Technologies, Inc.

And on Wednesday, June 18, from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Las Vegas Convention Center, intermediate workshop IW11 will address "Digital Signage Business Opportunities for AV Integrators" in room N255. Dynamic digital signage (DDS) has passed the $1 billion industry level growing at 40 percent annually toward one million installed displays by 2009. Project planning and technology integration are key as retailers and a wide range of service providers consider and proceed with DDS projects. Opportunities and key supply issues will be presented in this program by some of the industry's most experienced professionals, including:

Brad Gleeson, VP of Business Development and GM of Coolsign, Planar Systems, Inc.

Bil Trainor, president, Capital Networks Limited

Jeff Collard, president, Omnivex

Additionally, InfoComm will feature a Digital Signage Pavilion, Application Showcase and Presentation Stage in North Halls 3 and 4.
