MSolutions, a leading supplier of AV test devices and collaboration solutions, has evolved it’s AV product portfolio to better support today’s space-constrained, USB-centric meeting and learning spaces. Leveraging its deep expertise in measuring and assuring signal integrity for demanding HDBaseT installations, MSolutions’ latest products, to be on display at ISE 2022 (Fira Barcelona, Gran Via, Barcelona, May 10-13, Stand 2P200), cost-effectively solve common videoconferencing challenges in today’s collaboration environments.

MSolutions last year introduced a five-input, USB 3.0-compatible extender set (MS-6U41A) that foreshadowed a more complete AV solutions focus. The company announced a wide array of space-saving video and audio acquisition products for collaboration rooms, including a 4K camera, a beamforming microphone and a soundbar with a built-in camera—the latter two representing the company’s first pure audio products. MSolutions also introduced a second USB-C extender set, removing extra features of the MS-6U41A to provide a more affordable, focused signal acquisition and transmission solution for rooms of all sizes.

[The Big Quit Will Be…Televised on TikTok?]

“We have put extensive research and development efforts into solving today’s most urgent commercial AV challenges, and hybrid meeting and learning spaces are chief among them,” said Ariel Marcus, CTO, MSolutions. “That includes developing affordable solutions for these spaces with proven interoperability between all video and audio products. This ensures a unified USB workflow for wireless transmission that maintains exceptional quality from the original acquisition points.”

New camera and extension products

On the video side, MSolutions introduces its MS-4KCam 4K Ultra HD USB camera and MS-6U1C USB-C extender. The company’s first 4K camera offers digital ePTZ capability that enables select portions of the camera’s wide angle picture (up to 120 degrees) to be magnified and repositioned to fill the frame. The extreme wide angle makes this camera ideal for mid to large spaces like conference rooms and auditoriums, however its low profile and affordable cost is perfectly suited for huddle spaces.

[MSolutions Updates MS-TestPro with New GUI, Enhancements]

The MS-6U1C extender set pairs perfectly with the camera in all installations, allowing a single USB-C data channel to be extended up to 333 feet/100 meters over a single CATx cable. The MS-6U1C also supports RS-232 serial pass-through and bi-directional 12V PoC (Power over Cable), and its robust reliability ensures that signal integrity is maintained even when peripheral devices are concealed from sight.

“When space is at a premium, people want to install USB devices on the walls, atop video displays, or in other out-of-the way spots to keep the conference table uncluttered and enhance the room’s décor,” said Eliran Toren, CEO, MSolutions. “When USB extenders are used to connect USB devices that are situated beyond the reach of a single cable, the result is often visible signal degradation—such as the loss of many frames per second—which wouldn’t otherwise occur with a single, direct USB connection.”

Sound and video vision

MSolutions’ two microphone solutions serve audio capture and conferencing needs across small, medium and large spaces. The company’ MS-SP8 Digital Array Microphone offers innovative, beamforming technology to reduce noise and produce clear sound quality in boomy acoustic environments. This patent-pending technology is built into a full-featured microphone with USB-2.0 and 3.5mm audio interfaces, making it ideal for use as a hands-free lecture and presentation device.

The new MS-BEAM2 is an all-in-one soundbar takes the same audio quality approach for huddle spaces and smaller classrooms. Its beamforming microphone can pick up a speaker’s voice anywhere in the room, and its full-frequency loudspeaker ensures intelligible audio while maintaining an overall compact product footprint.

[AVIXA Report: Pro AV Rebounds as Pandemic Fears Fade]

Both audio products add a low-distortion BF algorithm that automatically detects and focuses on the person speaking, enhancing sound pickup without picking up other audio distractions in the room. However, the MS-BEAM2 is distinguished by a streamlined three-in-one design that also integrates a 4K UltraHD camera, providing an all-one video and audio solution that can be easily moved from room to room when sharing amongst many smaller spaces.

Looking forward, MSolutions will release soon a USB-C testing to its popular MS-TestPro handheld AV test devices.

“Since vendors can modify the designs and structures of the USB-C cables they make, testing helps determine whether a particular USB-C cable has sufficient bandwidth to support high video traffic volumes,” said Marcus. “We intend to add this capability in response to global customer demand, as the latest generation of laptops now rely on USB-C’s wider bandwidth to transmit hi-res 4K UHD video.”

Based out of London, the creative and technology services company delivers stunning video and projection mapping for museum, concert, and live event projects, for which it regularly depends on AJA KONA video I/O cards for 4K and 8K playout.

[Musion Produces Lifelike Interactive Holograms with AJA Gear]

RES’ project portfolio is diverse, with its work currently on display at the National Museum of Qatar, and its creative stamp on previous spectacles for the 2020 Japan Games torch relay, Coldplay World Tour, and Eric Prydz HOLOSPHERE show, among other events. In translating client visions to realities, RES Founders Dave Green, Trey Harrison, and Mark Calvert found themselves using a similar set of tools for video playback and saw an opportunity to commercialize their work. Out of this realization, they launched HIVE in March 2022. The new technology company develops cost-efficient, portable media control solutions for driving projection and LED displays in AV environments.

To date, HIVE offers four different media players, including PLAYER_3 and PLAYER_4, which support 4K and 8K playback and include an AJA KONA 4 card and an AJA KONA 5 card respectively. “I’ve been using KONA cards for more than a decade now because they provide consistent high quality video playback, even for the most complex installations," said David Green, founder and technical lead. "Integrating them into our new media player boxes just made sense. Both KONA 4 and KONA 5 offer remarkable performance for 4K and 8K playback at an affordable price point, which will be crucial as the AV industry continues to move more toward 4K and 8K content, especially for large scale installations, in which higher resolutions deliver that WOW factor.”

[AJA Introduces v16.2 Update for Desktop Software and, for Developer Partners, SDK v.16]

In addition to supporting 4K and 8K video via built-in KONA 4 and KONA 5 cards, HIVE’s PLAYER_3 and PLAYER_4 products also include an NVIDIA GPU. Systems integrators and venue teams simply connect the media player box to their display technology, and log into HIVE’s web-based application. An intuitive interface then allows users to upload video files for playout directly from a phone, tablet, or computer, and set up and/or edit the playlist or timecode cue list directly from the app.

“As the visual bar for video installations continues to grow, keeping media control workflows and costs in check has become in many ways unmanageable, which is where HIVE is providing respite," Green concluded. "Our media players eliminate the need for massive racks of expensive, complex hardware setups, and AJA KONA is a key enabler, packing a big punch with a small footprint.”

MAXHUB, a premier provider of collaborative communication and interactive class delivery solutions, introduced the LM138A07TAA TAA Compliant Integrated LED Wall Display. As a member of MAXHUB’s Raptor Series, the LM138A07TAA offers a rich feature set typical of all Raptor Series displays while being TAA compliant. TAA compliance indicates that this display is manufactured in a TAA-designated country—meaning a nation with which the U.S. maintains a trade agreement and regards as a reliable or acceptable procurement source. TAA compliance also ensures that the product meets all necessary requirements that enable it to be sold to the Federal government of the United States.

[MAXHUB Debuts New Commercial Displays for Digital Signage]

With its 1920 x 1080 screen resolution, the 138-inch diagonal LM138A07TAA delivers stunning high-definition visuals with exceptional color accuracy and depth. The result is unforgettable impact, with class-leading brightness and contrast ratio. Featuring integrated video processing, support for PBP (picture-by-picture) functionality, which separates the screen in half—displaying output from two different source devices simultaneously on the left and right sides, along with PIP (picture-in-picture) capability, which separates the screen into two parts (one source on the main screen and the other in an inset window), the perfect presentation experience can be configured with minimal setup time. Equally notable, the LM138A07TAA provides three HDMI inputs and one HDMI output for maximum signal management flexibility.

Another key attribute of the MAXHUB LM138A07TAA is its 3-in-1 design that provides everything presenters might require in one package. The control unit integrates a sending card, the Android OS card, and the video processor. The receiving unit incorporates the power supply, the receiving card, and the hub board while the power unit includes the power supply, amplifier, and relay provisions. The result is plug and play installation with easy maintenance.

[MAXHUB Introduces UC S05 Conference Bar with Camera]

The MAXHUB LM138A07TAA’s audio capability is equally impressive. The display’s integrated studio quality speakers enhance voice intelligibility—enabling meeting participants to hear clearly and be more engaged. With an integrated 30-watt internal audio amplifier and dual loudspeakers, the new LM138A07TAA ensures exceptional audio quality with studio-grade, professionally tuned clarity that must be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Every aspect of the MAXHUB LM138A07TAA’s design facilitates quick and easy collaboration. With its low-latency, stable mirroring support, LAN screen-sharing for up to four windows, and integrated Android 9.0 operating system, seamless connections and built-in sharing features make this display an outstanding choice for any presentation or communication task. Android 9.0 also provides enhanced BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) sharing of content, resulting in even greater flexibility for meetings. Further, the new LM138A07TAA offers upgraded Wi-Fi capability to 2.4G and 5G dual network duplex.

[MAXHUB Launches UC M40 360-Degree All-in-One Camera]

The ability to interact with the LM138A07TAA is nothing short of exceptional. MAXConfig software delivers unparalleled control. The system supports instant remote and reverse control via tablet, smartphone, or PC, along with remote power, brightness, signal source volume, and window-size management. Real-time annotations via one’s personal computing device facilitates easy collaboration while intuitive connections to third-party control systems are easily accomplished.

“The new LM138A07TAA is, for MAXHUB, in a class all its own—thanks to its TAA compliancy, enabling this display to be sold to the Federal government of the United States," said Sam Malik, senior director of sales and marketing for MAXHUB’s North American operations. "While this display is a full member of the MAXHUB Raptor Series in terms of features and performance, it is manufactured in South Korea, thus enabling this model to gain TAA compliant recognition. With its comprehensive feature set, presenters can rest assured this display will provide meeting attendees with exceptional image quality to maximize the impact of the presentation.”

Studio Technologies, manufacturer of high-quality audio, video, and fiber-optic solutions, announced the new Model 392 Visual Indicator Unit at NAB 2022 (Booth C2625). Designed for a variety of applications that require a visual status display, the unit is compatible with the Dante Audio-over-Ethernet protocol and requires only a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) connection to establish full operation.

“The Model 392 can support a variety of status display applications, such as on-air light, room occupied indicator, intercom call signal display, and can even serve as an audio level ‘meter’,” said Gordon Kapes, president of Studio Technologies. “It provides reliable visual cuing and is easily deployed in both new build applications and existing structures. It’s a very unique product that should find many applications.”

[Studio Technologies Introduces New Dante-Compatible Intercom Station]

An array of full-color (red, green, and blue) LEDs provides the optical source for the distinctively shaped polycarbonate lens assembly. The Model 392 is housed in a compact, lightweight enclosure that is intended for mounting in a U.S.-standard 2-gang electrical box. For convenience, each unit is supplied with a stainless-steel trim plate. The unit’s lens is compatible with a single Decora-style rectangular opening, allowing easy fabrication of custom trim plates for advanced applications. An RJ45 PoE connection supports the unit’s operating power and network data interconnection.

While the Model 392 is a native Dante product, several methods allow control of the unit’s visual display. A high-frequency audio tone, typically 20 kHz, within the connected Dante audio channel, can be used to “trigger” the display. This allows directly compatibility with a variety of party-line (PL) intercom and general audio applications. Alternately, simple UDP network messages transported over the Ethernet connection can be used to control the lighting of the unit’s display. Additionally, the Model 392 can provide an audio level display function, lighting green, yellow, or red to indicate the real-time audio level of a connected Dante audio signal.

The Model 392 can be used in a variety of Dante-supporting applications. For example, the Model 392’s display can be “triggered” using one of the contact-closure inputs on a Studio Technologies’ Model 44D Audio Interface unit. Additionally, high-frequency tone signals generated by Studio Technologies’ Model 214 and Model 215 Announcer’s Consoles will allow the Model 392 to directly serve as a broadcast “on-air” indicator.

[All Mobile Video Has a New Year's Rockin' Eve with Studio Technologies]

The Model 392 is supported by the STcontroller software application, allowing the unit’s extensive range of operating features to be quickly and intuitively configured. Versions of STcontroller are available, free of charge, for use with the Windows and macOS operating systems. Configuration choices include the color, intensity, and cadence of the display. In addition, STcontroller allows the unit’s control (“trigger”) source to be selected as well as providing a means to monitor and manually control the status of the visual display. The selected configuration values are stored within the Model 392’s non-volatile memory.

"Now—along with our expansive fabric collection as well as Legrand's full range of switches, outlets, and wiring devices—dealers can further customize the details of their customer's shading solutions for a more cohesive and intentionally designed space."

Designed to fit 2.6-inch and 3.3-inch universal and open-roll adjustable brackets, the decorative brackets slide on easily to completely conceal mounting brackets from the outside without interfering with the mounting surface. They tastefully and cleverly hide mounting hardware from view, resulting in a cohesive shading design. Likewise, the Designer Series hem bar end caps offer a redesigned, modern shape to complete the look, and provide a consistent finish.

[Road Trip: Legrand | AV Roadshow Trailer Visits Customers in Person]

To match the aesthetics of any space perfectly, down to the last detail, Designer Series decorative brackets and hem bar end caps are available in 15 new finish styles across three collections: Premium, Glass, and adorne. Premium finishes offer clean lines and are color-matched to Legrand's wiring devices, while adorne finishes perfectly complement switches and outlets from Legrand's adorne Collection.

Glass finishes are inspired by the Vantage EasyTouch Glass keypad and offer a reflective, mirror-like surface. Dealers can easily showcase all 15 finishes to their customers with the convenient new decorative end cap demo case.

Dante Ready allows makers to lower costs at the time of manufacture and gives their customers the ability to purchase only the channels that are required for an application.

[Audinate to Acquire Silex Insight's Video Business]

Dante Ready will initially be made available for devices built using Dante Embedded Platform, a software implementation of Dante audio designed for Linux-based audio appliances. Dante Ready lets customers activate Dante as software online while devices are in the field, purchasing only as many channels of Dante audio as they require, from 2x2 to 64x64. Once activated, the product license never expires and can be expanded as needed through later purchases. They don’t need to make that decision in an up-front purchase but may enable channels on demand.”

[Audinate Brings Dante Application Library to PC, Mac Applications]

The Dante platform is a complete AV-over-IP solution that allows audio, video, and control data to be transported over standard 1GB ethernet networks.
Visix has released version 1.55 of their AxisTV Signage Suite software. This latest update gives administrators extensive visibility, tracking, and reporting options for their digital signage messages, playlists, and users. The new release also provides an updated web browser widget to enhance compatibility with modern webpages.

With the new analytics feature, clients using both cloud and on-premises content management systems can enable tracking and reporting for five areas: message playback, message approval, playlist activity, content submission and user activity. Activation is a simple checkbox, and users can set the number of days to retain data, run reports by date range, choose and rearrange columns within reports while being able to sort, filter, group, and funnel report data with conditional logic.

[Visix Cleans Up Communications at Clinic]

“If you want to maximize the impact and efficiency of your digital signage, metrics are key,” said Trey Hicks, chief sales officer for Visix. “Whether you’re partnering with advertisers or just want to track your own internal communications campaigns, you need data to make good decisions. By tracking participation, turnaround time, and playback frequency, administrators can see who’s using the system most often and what’s on screens, when. Pairing these analytics with calls to action can help you better measure engagement for both your staff and your audiences.”

AxisTV Signage Suite users can choose which messages are tracked in the CMS with a simple checkbox. The message playback report lists messages within a specified date range along with their associated playlists, players, who submitted the message, playback counts, and time on screen. Users can also click message thumbnails in the report to see fullscreen popups for easy reference.

[Door County Enhances Municipal Visitor Experiences with Visix DS Solutions]

To better track workflows, message approval shows the approval status of messages with the average time for approval or disapproval, and playlist activity shows how many items are submitted to each playlist within a date range, so clients can see which playlists are most active. Two options help administrators track which users or departments are most active: content submission shows how many items have been submitted, by whom, and can be sorted by user account or organization; and user activity lets administrators see the last time users logged in and which organization or suborganization they belong to.

All reports can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis or quick sharing with the C-suite. For clients wanting to promote their digital signage efforts, easy widgets in AxisTV Signage Suite can pull data from Excel for data visualizations on screens.

Barix announced the Exstreamer MPA400, the newest addition to its lineup of versatile IP audio decoders and amplifiers for applications ranging from emergency notifications to paging and background music. The new hardware supports a wide range of codecs and delivers up to 40-watt audio output for two to eight-ohm analog speakers, enabling easy integration of existing speakers into feature-rich, audio-over-IP systems.

Barix will showcase the Exstreamer MPA400 alongside other new innovations in stand 7K375 at the ISE 2022 exhibition, taking place May 10-13 in Barcelona.

[New Barix Gateway Provides Bridge Between Smartphones and Legacy Public Address Systems]

The Exstreamer MPA400’s powerful integration capabilities combine with support for the latest formats and technology standards to make it the most flexible and capable IP audio decoder on the market. The new device can decode audio streams delivered via HTTP or RTP protocols in codec formats including PCM, AACplus, MP3, Opus, G.711, and G.722. Pre-recorded audio files can also be stored in the unit’s internal memory for triggered playback.

Native support for Singlewire Informacast and Intrado Revolution systems allows Exstreamer MPA400 devices to seamlessly integrate connected speakers as endpoints for the popular, enterprise-class mass notification solutions. Robust SIP support (including Secure SIP) enables compatibility with VoIP phone systems and direct addressing of each MPA400 device. Multi-level source stream prioritization–configured through the device’s built-in web interface–enables important messages such as emergency notifications or urgent pages to automatically override background music and other audio.

Alternatively, the Exstreamer MPA400 can be configured as a dedicated AES67 receiver/decoder, enabling interoperability with Dante-compatible devices and AES67-based audio-over-IP networks.

[Barix Updates RetailPlayer with Advanced Scheduling Features]

Support for multiple power-over-Ethernet (PoE) standards enables input audio streams and power for the Exstreamer MPA400 to be carried over a single cable while accommodating varying speaker requirements. Up to 40W RMS output at four ohms is available when powered by IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++ or 4PPoE) or an external power supply; 20W RMS is available with IEEE 802.3at (PoE+), or 10W RMS output with IEEE 802.3af (PoE).

The Exstreamer MPA400 is the latest product in Barix’s decoder/amplifier portfolio. The PoE-powered IP Former TPA400 analog-to-IP speaker conversion hardware provides up to 5W RMS output while directly replacing a low-impedance loudspeaker’s traditional 70/100V transformer, while the Exstreamer M400 decoder provides stereo, line-level, analog audio output with RCA-type connections to feed an existing amplifier or PA system.

[Barix Unveils Next-Gen Exstreamer IP Audio Decoder]

“The Exstreamer MPA400 completes our roster of high-performance decoders and amplifiers,” said Davide Nossa, product manager for Barix. “It is perfect for systems integrators and end-customers who want the rich functionality and direct speaker connectivity of our award-winning IP Former hardware but with much higher audio output power.”

Initially designed for plant miking applications, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun is ideal for miking in small spaces because of its small footprint and clear audio pickup. When selected as part of the company’s 4097 CORE Interview Kit, which includes a lightweight boom and windjammer, it is particularly useful for single person news teams to conduct interviews from up to 6.5 feet (two meters) away.

The DPA Microphones 4466 CORE Omnidirectional and 4488 CORE Directional Headset Microphones are making their trade show debut at NAB 2022. Based on the design of the company’s groundbreaking 6066 Subminiature Headsets, the new solutions feature the brand’s popular 5mm round microphone capsule. These latest offerings provide the security, durability and flexibility necessary for use in broadcast, theatre, worship and corporate conferencing, among other applications.

The 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun

The 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun is a plug-and-play solution that allows users to get started quickly and employ their existing workflows for broadcast, film, and TV production environments. Its sonic qualities are particularly beneficial for placing mics in inconspicuous locations as it enables location sound experts to capture sound from anywhere on set. Terminating in a MicroDot connection, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun can attach directly to a transmitter or be used with the company’s 4099 series mounts, clamps and clips, for easy mounting on any surface. Used in combination with DPA boom mics and lavaliers, the 4097 Micro Shotgun complements toolboxes as the final piece of a complete microphone package, helping to meet the needs of any broadcast, TV, or film production.

[String Fever at SAU, and DPA Microphones Capture It All]

Additionally, the 4097 CORE Interview Kit provides professional sound in a lightweight package, which is perfect for current broadcast production needs. At just 12 ounces (330 grams) without the transmitter, the Interview Kit is a much lighter, more flexible solution than traditional boom mic solutions, enabling reporters, videographers, and sound experts alike to capture sound from anywhere. The kit features DPA’s 4099 Cold Shoe Mount, DPA MicroDot cable, a transmitter plate, lightweight telescopic boom pole, and a windjammer for outdoor productions.

The microphone can also be used to capture voice-overs from reporters, which are typically completed following an interview. As news voice-overs are often recorded in rooms or vehicles with less optimal acoustics, the mic’s directional characteristics enable it to dramatically reduce background noise compared to a standard omnidirectional lavalier microphone.

When used in conjunction with DPA’s lightweight MMA-A Digital Audio Interface, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun becomes a complete remote recording package. The interface is a high-quality, two-channel microphone preamp and A/D converter offering mono, dual and stereo capabilities. Compatible with iOS devices, Mac or PC computer, the MMA-A provides crystal clear audio for a wide array of remote applications.

Like all DPA solutions, the supercardioid 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun offers a highly directional pickup pattern as well as low self-noise, with DPA’s famous flat off-axis frequency response. With speech intelligibility at the top of DPA’s development requirements, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun features 16 mV sensitivity and is capable of handling high SPLs. As a result, it is one of the most natural-sounding location sound microphones available, capable of capturing crystal-clear audio from any position, even when users speak loudly or yell.

[DPA Issues New Product Updates]

With integrated CORE by DPA amplifier technology, the microphone has low distortion and a wide dynamic range. As with all CORE by DPA microphones, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun is IP58 certified for protection against water and dust. This durability is achieved through a water-repellant nano-coating of the cover and housing, hermetic sealing of the sensitive amplifier at the core of the mic and dual gold plating of the diaphragm.

Configured with a MicroDot connector, one of DPA's many adapters can be used for either wired or wireless applications, making the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun a truly flexible solution. The mic also includes an integrated shock mount similar to the one found in the DPA 4099 mics. With its linear response, low distortion and extremely large dynamic range, the 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun sounds great in any environment, no matter how challenging.

The DPA Microphones 4466 CORE Omnidirectional and 4488 CORE Directional Headset Microphones

With the purposeful design of the boom and locking system, design, and adjustable height and boom length, the 4466 and 4488 headsets are one-size-fits-all to accommodate all head types. Designed to meet the requirements of MIL-DTL-83526 military specifications, Neutrik’s FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection System is the ideal solution for use in harsh environments—thanks to their expanded-beam fiber-optic connectivity, which makes them an exceptional choice for use in dirty, dusty environments.

[Neutrik Americas Acquires Major Custom Cable]

FIBERFOX expanded-beam fiber-optic connectors utilize a lens to expand and accurately align the light emitting from an optical fiber. The aligned light beam is transmitted through an air gap to a mating connector, where the light is collected and focused by a second lens into a second optical fiber to complete the connection. With 50/125 multimode fiber, the expanded and aligned light beam has an active area that is approximately 3,600 times larger than a typical 50 µm multimode fiber core. That results in a dramatically increased percentage of available transmission power—with no variation in signal strength over time.

The FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection System incorporates both 2- and 4-channel heavy-duty connectors that are IP68 waterproof certified up to a depth of 6 meters (19 feet, 8 inches) both mated and unmated—without a protective cap. These wear-free connectors can withstand 10,000 mating cycles without any maintenance, and no special cleaning or measurement tools are required. Of note, mating ability is dramatically improved as the 2-channel connectors are compatible with 4-channel FIBERFOX configurations and the 4-channel FIBERFOX connectors are compatible with the 2-channel FIBERFOX system. Additionally, both the 2-channel and 4-channel connectors are compatible with all MIL-DTL-83526 systems.

[Neutrik Group Expands REAN Brand Connectors]

Another notable aspect of the FIBERFOX Fiber Optic Connection System is the FIBERFOX briDge. Capable of both front and rear-mounting, these hermaphroditic connectors facilitate easy patching with common LC patch cords. An LC cable can connect directly into the back of the briDge chassis connector. The FIBERFOX briDge chassis connector fits into the ubiquitous NEUTRIK D-shape cutout.

“The FIBERFOX system represents a dramatic step forward in fiber optic connectivity and signal transmission," said David Kuklinski, Neutrik Americas' director of fiber optic solutions. "Featuring full interconnectivity with standard LC connectors for easy integration with other fiber optic products, the FIBERFOX system is insensitive to dirt or liquids, making it easier to clean, easier to maintain, and remarkably robust in terms of its resistance to dust and dirt. With full MIL-DTL-83526 compatibility, this system makes a great choice for a wide range of markets, including lighting/network, PA/sound, video, broadcast, defense and government, railway, and oil/gas stations. I’m confident these new products will be well received by system integrators everywhere.”

The What: Extron Electronics' TLS 1025M 10-inch panel for Extron Room Scheduling systems is available immediately. The stand-alone TouchLink Scheduling panel connects directly to a variety of popular calendar services, and requires no additional scheduling software or external processors.

The What Else: It features a vibrant 1280x800 capacitive edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass touchscreen that is scratch and smudge-resistant. The TLS 1025M also features the convenience of PoE, which allows it to receive power and communication over a single Ethernet cable. Two bright red and green LEDs make it easy to see if a room is occupied or available even from down the hall. The integration-friendly 1025M is an ideal solution for any environment requiring a stylish and convenient room scheduling panel, according to Extron.

“The new TLS 1025M has a brilliant, high resolution edge-to-edge touchscreen and is the largest of our TouchLink Scheduling panels,” said Casey Hall, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing Extron. “The room analytics functions give customers vital, at-a-glance data to help them schedule rooms and view meeting trends across their organization.”

The Bottom Line: TouchLink Room Scheduling panels provide the information users need to closely analyze room usage, activity patterns, and occupancy trends across the organization. Users can download a scheduling activity file with room usage and meeting data from each touchpanel and transform this readily-available information with data analytics tools to create powerful reports.

The What: DPA will be launching its smallest high-end pro audio microphone capsule ever—the d:screet CORE 6060, 6061 Subminiature Microphones and the d:fine CORE 6066 Subminiature Headset Microphone—at AES NY in Booth 633. Measuring in at three millimeters (0.12 inches) in diameter, the new 6000 series is 60 percent smaller than DPA's existing 4000 series.

DPA's d:fine CORE 6066 Subminiature Headset Microphone will debut at AES NY 2018.

The What Else: While the new mics may be small, DPA says they are powerful in terms of performance, as all three incorporate the company's CORE by DPA microphone amplification technology, designed to reduces distortion and increases dynamic range. The microphones with CORE by DPA have also achieved an IP58 waterproof rating, which provides water and moisture resistance.

In terms of technical specifications, all three 6000 series capsules are omnidirectional and have a frequency range of 20 Hz - 20 kHz. The d:screet 6060 lavalier has a noise floor of only 24 dB(A), while the d:screet 6061 lavalier and d:fine 6066 headset have noise floors of only 26 dB(A). This is similar to the company's existing 4000 series miniature mics.

The Bottom Line: DPA's new Subminiature Microphones will be available in November. All three capsules are available in black and beige, and more colors will be added to the range later.

The What: Alteros, an Audio-Technica company, has introduced a direct-to-fiber extension to its GTX 6.5 GHz Ultra Wide Band digital wireless microphone system, providing enhanced range and flexibility.

The What Else: The standard GTX system allows up to 32 GTX32 transceivers to each be connected to a 3U GTX3224 control unit with up to 1000 feet of Cat 5 cable, creating a L.A.W.N. (local area wireless microphone network) system to communicate bidirectionally with up to 24 GTX24 wireless microphone transmitters—24 microphone channels and 24 talkback channels with an additional eight group channels. With the introduction of the GTX3224F control unit version, 16 rear-panel Cat 5 transceiver ports are replaced with six fiber ports. Fiber connections measured in miles instead of feet can connect the control unit to up to six GTX-FX8 8-port fiber breakout nodes for remote Cat 5 connection to the network and power for to up to 48 GTX32 transceivers (up to 16 GTX32s can be connected directly to the GTX3224F by Cat 5 for a total capability of 64).

The result is a system that can cover extremely large venues, and multiple locations within a venue, as was proven with ESPN’s successful deployment of the Alteros Direct-to-Fiber GTX system for coverage of the 2018 US Open Tennis Championships.

The Bottom Line: The GTX3224F and GTX-8 hardware will be available November 2018.

The What: VuWall Technology has a new plugin for the Milestone XProtect unified security platform. The VuWall plugin now enables security system builders to integrate VuScape high-density decoder cards for the simultaneous decoding of all the supported sources possible on just a single video wall. The plugin also allows security operators to access the powerful VuWall2 video wall software feature set from within the Milestone software interface to manage all video feeds.

The What Else: Working under the familiar Milestone software interface, security operators can remotely display and control tile layouts and required content on video walls through simple drag-and-drop functions. Operators have full control over the video feeds on the video wall, whether they need to display live video camera sequences or play back streams from a video server. In addition to video content, the plug-in can also manage non-video content, such as maps, web pages, and control data, which can be displayed on the wall by controlling all sources and presets, hence providing a complete end-to-end networked solution.

The Bottom Line: The combination of the high-density decoding on the video wall, the possibility to bring in any content or other signals, and the control from within the XProtect interface will simplify the life of Milestone operators while improving the decision-making process in control rooms, according to the company.

The What: Mad Systems has introduced the LookingGlass Concierge, a facial recognition system.

The What Else: The LookingGlass Concierge system uses facial recognition to recognize people. It then logs each member into the group using a variety of methods including pre-entry data submitted prior to their visit, on-site using a self-service kiosk, or with assistance from a staff member. Once done, the system can keep track of where the members of that group are, retrieve pictures, and collect merchandise that members of the group purchase or win.

The system will log people and group members as they move around the venue, and always log the last place they were seen. If a person or a group member wants to find other members of the group, they can walk up to a kiosk, retrieve information of where other members of the group are, how to get there, and have an option to leave a message for them (i.e. their next stop!) using the kiosk or even a personal device.

The Bottom Line: The rationale behind the system is that the experience should be easier for visitors if they are in a venue that uses some sort of recognition system. Guests will feel safe knowing their kids cannot leave without their guardians, that people can easily find each other when separated

With a concierge system such as this in place, a lot of things that are currently a chore would be made easier for visitors, and when combined with Mad’s recognition-based media delivery, the LookingGlass system would create a unique integrated experience.

The unit comes standard with a USB extension for the front panel and the mounting kit is compatible with DIN 41494/IEC 60297 19-inch 4U racks (483 x 177 x 91 mm).

The product has a graphical user interface that can be scaled, randomly positioned ,and combined in almost every way for optimized use of available screen space. Even multiple instruments of the same type, assigned to different input channels and configurations, can be displayed simultaneously. Plus, a context-sensitive, on-screen help feature supports the user, allowing for setup changes with ease.

The latest firmware version of the TM9, which is also used with the TM7, expands the basic software to a four-channel display; 4x Mono or 2x Stereo/2x Mono. Additionally, 1x Stereo can be measured without the need of an activated multichannel license. Output routing can be individually adjusted for each preset and all presets can be exported or imported at the same time.

The Bottom Line: The reconfigured unit brings all the audio monitoring features of the standalone RTW TM9 in a new design that is more easily accessible to users in studio settings.

Equipped with RTW’s nine-inch touch screens and an easy-to-use GUI, the TM9 TouchMonitor is the latest in the company’s rack-mount solutions, which includes the TM3, TM7 and RTW legacy products.

The three DMP 128 Plus AT models now also support Dante Domain Manager, network management software, from Audinate. DDM enables user authentication, role-based security, and seamless expansion of Dante systems over any network infrastructure. This firmware update adds compatibility with the VoIP MS cloud-based VoIP system for the DMP 128 Plus V models, continuing our commitment to the widest possible VoIP compatibility. Finally, the ability to convert project files between DMP 128 Plus types has been added with this firmware and DSP Configurator Software version 2.20.

The Bottom Line: Extron AEC features advanced algorithms that deliver optimal intelligibility in situations that challenge AEC performance, including double-talk, and the use of wireless microphones at the near end. Dante Domain Manager supports enterprise network environments that often require user-specific roles, high security, and logical segmenting of domains and devices on the network.

In addition to MyChart, Univago HE works with Epic Hyperspace, Haiku, and Canto. These additional integrations give providers access to Univago HE's rich feature set specifically developed for telehealth applications in inpatient environments, such as clinical consults, assessments and observations, interpreter services, and virtual family consults/visits.

Univago HE is an end-to-end telemedicine services platform that delivers the versatility, reliability and security vital to a broad range of telemedicine applications. An extension of Yorktel’s proven Univago video services platform, Univago HE was created specifically for healthcare to stabilize and simplify video technology so clinicians can use it and rely on it for delivery of virtual care in all clinical environments. The platform is versatile and flexible enough to scale across entire healthcare systems and comes with a rich set of tools to manage proactively and keep operational 24/7/365.

The Bottom Line: Univago HE’s support for open standards and multiple protocols provides for interoperability with traditional videoconferencing systems (SIP, H.323), Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business, and WebRTC browsers. This ensures scalability while enabling healthcare providers to leverage existing investments in video technologies.

The What: Magewell has introduced the Pro Capture Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT, the newest member of its Pro Capture family of PCI Express video capture hardware.

The What Else: The Pro Capture Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT captures two channels of Ultra HD video with embedded audio on each single card while reducing workflow costs and complexity with HDMI loop-through. The loop-through connections enable each source signal to be sent simultaneously to additional displays or equipment without the need for external HDMI splitters.

The Pro Capture Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT features HDMI 2.0 input interfaces and supports two discrete channels of video at resolutions up to 4096x2160 at 60 frames per second. Both inputs can be used simultaneously with independent control of capture resolution, frame rate, and processing settings.

Input video and audio can be routed to multiple software applications simultaneously, with separate control of resolution, frame rate and video processing settings for each program. FPGA-based video processing provides high-quality up/down/cross-conversion, graphic overlay and more without taking valuable host system CPU cycles away from third-party software — particularly significant because of the high computational requirements of processing two 4K sources at once.

The Bottom Line: The Pro Capture Dual HDMI 4K Plus LT leverages a high-speed PCIe 2.0 x8 bus interface and is compatible with Magewell's comprehensive SDK, helping third-party developers take full advantage of the card's advanced features in their own custom software applications and turnkey systems.

The company will showcase the new card in booth N1119 at NAB Show New York, taking place Oct. 17-18 in New York City. In addition to NAB Show New York, Magewell will demonstrate its latest offerings at Streaming Media West (Nov. 13-14, Huntington Beach, CA, booth 323), WFX (Nov. 14-15, Orlando, FL, booth 1222) and Government Video Expo (Nov. 28-29, Washington, DC, booth 625).

Reversible hinges help to avoid installation and service obstructions, and our design keeps the display mounted to the frame when opened, providing service and maintenance access.

An integrated wall reveal compensates for uneven walls to keep the frame plumb and provide passive cooling.

Integrated engagement latches can be secured with tamper-proof hardware to protect equipment. Middle Atlantic’s Lever Lock technology is integrated for on-wall component storage. Additional storage can be added either on-wall with Lever Lock, or in-wall with Chief In-Wall Storage Boxes.

The Bottom Line: The on-wall kiosk will be available in black or white finishes for 46-75” screen sizes; 49”, 50” and 55” models are available now and the remaining sizes in the series will be released throughout the remainder of the year.

From sharing a laptop screen to playing full-motion videos to driving a presentation directly from a mobile phone, Lifesize Share modernizes how businesses wirelessly present both in the meeting room and on digital signage screens.

The Bottom Line: With the new integration, Mac, iPhone, and iPad users can now share their screen at work just as easily as they can at home with an Apple TV. The AirPlay integration adds to the simple, browser-based sharing and convenient, ultrasonic pairing capabilities Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android users already experience when using Lifesize Share.

The What: Timecode Systems has launched UltraSync BLUE, which uses the company's patented timecode sync and control protocol.

The What Else: UltraSync BLUE transmits timecode to a recording device over Bluetooth with sub-frame accuracy. The product uses Bluetooth pairing to connect to a device, enabling timecode to be transmitted wirelessly from UltraSync BLUE directly into the media file of a connected device.

The device itself measures just 55mm x 43mm x 17mm, weighs only 36g, and costs £125 ($179 or €149), making it small enough to fit neatly into a pocket during filming and affordable enough to be used on any type of production — from documentaries, news gathering, and reality shows to wedding videos and independent films.

By removing the restrictions of a wired connection, crews not only benefit from the convenience of being cable-free, but also from more versatility in how they can sync content. A feature of UltraSync BLUE is the ability to use a single unit to sync up to four recording devices shooting in close range over Bluetooth — a great option for small shoots and interviews, and also for content captured for vlogs and social media.

The Bottom Line: At launch, both the MAVIS professional camera app and Apogee MetaRecorder app (both for iPhone) are already fully compatible, allowing — for the first time — sound and video recorded on iPhone devices to be synchronised over the Timecode Systems network.

Timecode Systems is now taking orders for UltraSync BLUE and will be shipping in October 2018.

Both models feature an efficient 1000-watt Class-D power module, one-touch preset DSP contours for the most common sound reinforcement applications, and line, mic/line, and 3.5 mm stereo inputs. Each can also be pole-mounted, utilized as a floor monitor, or deployed in a fixed or temporary installation. Available accessories include carrying tote, outdoor cover, and quick-connect yoke mount.

“QSC is known the world-over for delivering quality, high performance products for professional use,” states QSC David Fuller, senior director, product development. “The ability to deliver that same value proposition to a far broader range of customers is a remarkable achievement for our teams. Likewise, CP offers an incredible introduction to the QSC brand for first-time buyers, as well as a long sought-after QSC solution for commercial customers.”

The Bottom Line: Further enhancing the products’ appeal, a compact form factor and light weight combine to offer easier transport and deployment in both portable and installed applications. The CP Series is available in stores and online worldwide beginning October 1, 2018.

The What: Timecode Systems, manufacturer of wireless sync technology, has introduced UltraSync BLUE. The first solution to use the company's new patented timecode sync and control protocol, UltraSync BLUE transmits timecode to a recording device over Bluetooth with sub-frame accuracy.

The What Else: UltraSync BLUE uses Bluetooth pairing to connect to a device. This enables timecode to be transmitted wirelessly from UltraSync BLUE directly into the media file of a connected device.

"The beauty of this solution is that the timecode is embedded directly into a timecode track, so there is no need for any additional conversion software; the metadata is in the right format to be automatically recognized by professional NLEs," said Paul Scurrell, CEO of Timecode Systems Limited. "This launches a whole new era for multi-camera video production in which content from prosumer and consumer audio and video has the potential to be combined, aligned, and edited together with ease and efficiency, and with the same high level of accuracy as footage from top-end, professional recording devices."

By removing the restrictions of a wired connection, crews not only benefit from the convenience of being cable free, but also from even more versatility in how they can sync content. A unique feature of UltraSync BLUE is the ability to use a single unit to sync up to four recording devices shooting in close range over Bluetooth—a great option for small shoots and interviews, and also for content captured for vlogs and social media.

However, as filming is not always this simple, especially in the professional world, UltraSync BLUE is also designed to work with the rest of the Timecode Systems product range. For more complicated shoots, UltraSync BLUE can be connected to devices over Bluetooth and then synced over robust, long-range RF to other camera and audio recorders using Timecode Systems units. This also includes any equipment containing a Timecode Systems OEM sync module, such as the AtomX Sync module that was recently launched by Atomos for the new Ninja V.

"With more and more prosumer and consumer cameras and sound recorders coming with built-in Bluetooth technology, we saw an opportunity to use this wireless connectivity to exchange timecode metadata," Scurrell added. "By integrating a robust Bluetooth Low Energy chip into UltraSync BLUE, we've been able to create a simple, low-cost timecode sync product that has the potential to work with any camera or sound recording device with Bluetooth connectivity."

Timecode Systems is now working with manufacturers and app developers to adopt its new timing protocol into their Bluetooth-enabled products. At launch, both the MAVIS professional camera app and Apogee MetaRecorder app (both for iPhone) are already fully compatible, allowing sound and video recorded on iPhone devices to be synchronized over the Timecode Systems network.

"It's been an exciting time for sync technology,” Scurrell said. “In the past couple of years, we've seen some massive advancements not only in terms of reducing the size and cost of timecode solutions, but also with solutions becoming more widely compatible with more consumer-level devices such as GoPro and DSLR cameras. But there was still no way to embed frame-accurate timecode into sound and video recordings captured on an iPhone; this was the biggest thing missing from the market. UltraSync BLUE, in combination with the MAVIS and MetaRecorder apps, fills this gap."

The Bottom Line: The device itself measures 55mm by 43mm by 17mm, weighs 36g, and costs $179, making it small enough to fit neatly into a pocket during filming and affordable enough to be used on nearly any type of production—from documentaries, news gathering, and reality shows to wedding videos and independent films.

Source content can be switched to feed one or two video displays via HDMI. With the XS-42H, meetings are about sharing ideas and collaboration, not about fiddling with connections, remotes, and interface settings.

The XS-42H’s auto input detection automatically switches to a newly connected device. The XS-42H uses the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) protocol to communicate with a connected device to specify the correct output resolution for the PC or tablet.

When sources are disconnected, the XS-42H can automatically return to a specified input instead of the typical black screen.

The Roland XS-42H includes stereo RCA outputs for connection to external speakers or soundbars for improved audio quality. The internal audio mixer of the XS-42H will switch the audio to match the video input, using the audio embedded in the computer’s HDMI signal. Input of auxiliary external audio sources is facilitated by a second pair of RCA phono jacks. Front panel controls with associated level indications allow adjustment of external line input, line output, and master audio levels, as well as headphone output level.

The XS-42H allows any tablet to serve as a touch controller, via the browser application. Scene selection and core switching functions can also be intuitively implemented by way of front-panel switches that illuminate to indicate available and selected sources.

The Bottom Line: The XS-42H weighs just 2 lbs 11 oz (1.2 kg) and measures 9 9/16 inches (W) x 1 3/4 inches (H) x 4 15/16 inches (D) (242 mm x 125 mm x 44 mm). It can be used freestanding, or can be rack-mounted by way of included adaptor hardware. The Roland Professional A/V XS-42H Matrix Switcher will be available in Q4 of 2018 at a price of $1,395.00.

The What: A 21st-century audiovisual and interactive solution for museums and visitor centers, Mad Systems’ patent-pending Facial Recognition and Color Recognition Controlled Media Delivery Systems are designed to deliver tailored media to exhibit visitors—with no need for phones, tablets, or anything else that distracts the audience.

The What Else: The Facial Recognition System can start recognition from a picture submitted by the visitor from home prior to their visit using their home computer or mobile device, from imagery and information collected when the visitor enters the venue using a kiosk or ticketing staff, or on an ad-hoc basis when they get to the exhibits. The user can select his/her preferences—such as preferred language, age group, interests, or a predetermined time limit for museum visits—and the Facial Recognition system will deliver media to the user based on these selections.

The Color Recognition System is based on a very simple concept: school groups and clubs often arrive at visitor centers wearing uniform, printed shirts, scarves, hats, or jackets that are bright colored and easily identifiable. When a group of visitors come to the entry, a camera looks at one of the shirts or jackets, and logs that color. A staff member, or a group member then tells the system what type of content to deliver—whether that is elementary content for younger children, or a more advanced experience for high school students. Even if no common color is worn, visitor center staff could hand out colored badges on lanyards or self-adhesive tags for clothing, and the system can still pick this color out to deliver customized content. Bright yellow could be used for vision-impaired guests, and blue for hearing-impaired visitors. Elementary kids might be issued red badges; a group of physics students might use purple. A Spanish language preference could be indicated by cyan, and other non-native English speakers could wear green.

The Bottom Line: Mad Systems’ Facial Recognition and Color Recognition Solutions provide media content that is tailored to visitors, without wristbands, RFID, or other interfaces. These unique systems use cameras and sensors to look at the space in front of an exhibit to identify the person or previously defined colors to deliver media in a way that matters to the visitor.

Its 4K HDMI 2.0 output ensures a high-resolution, pixel-to-pixel representation of each source on one screen in a quad-structure or other layout. Advanced seamless switching technology ensures no interruption of picture and no frame loss during source selection. Factory presets provide most commonly used arrangements of windows on a display, including single-window output. Additional programmable presets allow the user to store and recall custom-configured window arrangements.

The 4K 600 MHz 4x1 Multiview Seamless Switcher is controllable via front-panel buttons, its handheld IR remote control, RS-232, and IP (web server interface, Telnet, and UDP). An intuitive on-screen graphical user interface simplifies system configuration, and its 1U tall enclosure features removable rack ears. It can be mounted in a standard 19-inch wide rack or conveniently be placed on a shelf.

“The 4K 600MHz 4x1 Multiview Seamless Switcher is the perfect solution for displaying content from four high-definition sources on one 4K Ultra HD display,” said NSC Gefen product manager Jason Fitzgerald. “It is ideal for sports bars, restaurants, hotels, and any other commercial signage and entertainment installations where multiple sources need to be displayed on a single high resolution monitor.”

The Bottom Line: The 4x1 multi-view switcher is HDCP compliant, with support for input resolutions up to 1080p60 and output resolutions up to 4K60 4:4:4 (18Gbps, 600MHz TMDS clock). Audio from any of the four HDMI sources can be selected via IR, RS-232, or IP, for playback through the HDMI output and the L/R analog audio output. In addition, the analog audio is de-embedded from the HDMI output and can be routed to an outboard sound-reinforcement system, adding presence and impact to AV presentations.

The KORE Series cable protectors have a skid resistant rough pattern that will also prevent people from slipping in wet conditions.

The Bottom Line: The rugged cable protectors are easy to setup and can accommodate cables up to 1½ inches in diameter. The ramps feature a single piece design with a top hinged lid for easy access, the KORE Series has a high impact resistance and dynamic load bearing properties of up to 8 tons.

With a puzzle piece design, interlocking the ramps is easy and requires no tools for assembly or breakdown.

The What: Roland Professional AV today has introduced the VP-42H Video Processor, a simple-to-set-up and easy-to-use compact device that allows sophisticated multi-source layering and switching with dynamic transitions for effective and engaging single-screen display of presentations, digital signage content, and meeting visuals.

The What Else: The VP-42H supports simultaneous output of up to four layered source signals even when resolutions vary between its four HDMI inputs. The processor features Motion Scene Switching for fluid transitions between complex screen setups, remote switching via browser-based network control, audio management including de-embedding and embedding and a keyer function for overlays and advanced composition.

In venues where it’s not practical or affordable to support multiple displays that simultaneously show varying IMAG or presentation images, the VP-42H allows a single large display to serve a range of functions with multiple inset windows and eye-catching displays. The Roland VP-42H Video Processor lets end users instantly switch between “scenes” containing pre-set arrangements of layered sources in customizable inset windows. The VP-42H smoothly transitions between current and next scenes by automatically moving and resizing the windows to their new positions with motion-based scene switching for visual impact.

By accessing a networked VP-42H’s fast and convenient web browser interface, each input layer can be scaled, cropped, zoomed, and positioned by clicking and dragging on a connected computer, wireless tablet, or smart phone.

The VP-42H’s internal audio mixer allows de-embedding of HDMI audio and the input of external audio sources via a pair of RCA phono jacks. Level balanced audio can be embedded in the HDMI output stream and also can be output to external mixers or speakers via a second pair of RCA jacks. Front panel controls with associated level indications allow adjustment of external line input, line output, and master audio levels, as well as headphone output level.

The Bottom Line: The compact VP-42H weighs 2 lbs 11 oz (1.2 kg) and measures 9 9/16 inches (W) x 1 3/4 inches (H) x 4 15/16 inches (D) (242 mm x 125 mm x 44 mm). It can be used freestanding or can be rack-mounted by way of included adaptor hardware. The Roland Professional AV VP-42H Video Processor will be available in Q4 of 2018 at a price of $1,595.00.

The What: Crestron has launched the Flex B100 Series, a front-of-room, wall-mount UC smart soundbar that provides native Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business functionality in a practical design. It will make its debut at Microsoft Ignite 2018 event in Orlando, FL, September 24–27 at Crestron’s booth 1707.

The What Else: With powerful built-in speakers, the Crestron Flex B100 Series fills meeting spaces with clear audio. Conversely, its beamforming microphone array picks up voices in the furthest reaches of the largest spaces. The embedded Huddly IQ videoconferencing camera provides technology developed in partnership with Intel that includes 4K digital auto-zoom, an undistorted, ultra-wide viewing angle of all videoconference call participants, and people counting.

“The Crestron Flex Smart Soundbar delivers native Microsoft Teams and Skype for Business functionality aimed at creating a better meeting and collaboration experience for every room in a company’s office space—from small huddle rooms to executive board rooms,” said Ted Colton, vice president of unified communications at Crestron. “Our goal with our new Flex Unified Communication and Collaboration series is to make working and using technology a seamless experience, and not an additional hindrance for employees or a company’s IT department.”

The Crestron Flex B100 Series benefit from zero-touch deployment via the Crestron XiO Cloud platform. With Crestron XiO Cloud, organizations can easily deploy, manage, monitor, and evolve thousands of Crestron Flex devices from a single dashboard, resolve technical issues remotely, and gather actionable space and device usage data, all without the need for programming.

The Bottom Line: The Flex B100 is designed to combine professional-quality audio and video with the flexibility to transform traditional, more complicated meeting spaces into easy-to-use spaces free of table clutter. Crestron Flex solutions deliver a simple, consistent user experience in all the places people work, from individual workstations to boardrooms.

The What: PreSonus Audio Electronics has introduced the CDL series of loudspeakers, the latest additions to the company’s line of sound reinforcement designs.

The What Else: The CDL12 Constant Directivity Loudspeaker combines point source and line array technology into a unique patent-pending design, radiating a highly focused pattern with consistent SPL throughout the frequency response range, both on- and off-axis. The companion subwoofer, the CDL18s, utilizes a ported design that maximizes efficiency to create a big bass sound from a compact cabinet. Both Dante-enabled, powered enclosures can be flown as a vertical array, or combined for ground-stacked applications to create a complete, coherent loudspeaker system with an even response across the frequency spectrum. Each CDL12 consists of eight 2-inch drivers aligned in a segmented circular-arc high-frequency array centered in front of a 12-inch woofer. The output of the low-frequency driver travels from the same acoustic axis as the high-frequency array so that the pattern always radiates from the center of the CDL12—whether used individually, or as part of an acoustically coupled vertical array with up to six enclosures.

As a line array system for fixed installations, the ability to fly five enclosures under one or two companion CDL18 subwoofers provides considerable flexibility when addressing room size. The CDL12 includes an integrated 500W x 500W Class D power amplifier with onboard DSP presets.

The CDL18 features a unique port configuration that maximizes efficiency to create big bass sound from a compact cabinet. Each of the four triangle-shaped ports is placed in a corner so that it couples to the cabinet, using the side walls to effectively elongate each port and allowing the CDL18s to move more air in a compact enclosure. Its custom 18-inch low-frequency transducer with 4-inch voice coil can travel 7 mm before over-excursion, and easily handles 800W, providing the articulate low-end punch audio professionals demand.

The Bottom Line: The CDL18s and CDL12 form a unique loudspeaker system ideal for both portable PA and installed sound applications. The PreSonus CDL12 loudspeaker and CDL18s sub bass enclosure are expected to be available September 2018. Both loudspeakers have a MAP price of $1999.95.
