In acquisition news, Broadcast Solutions GmbH, a systems integrator and provider of innovative solutions for the broadcast media industry, is acquiring BFE Studio und Medien Systeme GmbH. This transaction is expanding its service portfolio to include in-depth expertise in the areas of studio and production technology, media IT, control center and control room systems, and customized hardware and software development.

As an independent company and an established brand with offices in Mainz and Vienna, BFE will become part of the Broadcast Solutions Group. The existing shareholders, Martin Dempf and Sven Hesselbach, will continue to jointly manage the company as managing directors. Peter Dinkel and Doris Hartl will continue to lead BFE in Vienna as managing directors. Customers and partners will not experience any changes to their points of contact, ongoing projects or services.

Neil Hillier Appointed CEO to Lead Next Chapter at Adder

Adder Technology has appointed Neil Hillier as chief executive officer as part of a planned leadership transition and strengthened executive structure designed to support Adder’s continued growth, innovation, and global expansion. Additionally, Adder appointed: Paul Allen to chief financial officer; Jamie Adkin to VP of global sales; and Duncan Miller to VP global marketing and customer experience to bring together marketing, customer experience, and professional services and support.

Hillier succeeds Adrian Dickens, who transitions to the role of founder and executive chair following 42 years leading the business, with Nigel Dickens moving to Emeritus CTO. Hillier’s appointment aligns with the long-term stewardship principles established through the company’s recently announced Employee Ownership Trust.

Since joining the company in 2016, Hillier has played a key role in helping drive more than 70% revenue growth, building on the company’s global market position and helping shape its long-term strategy. With over two decades in the KVM industry, Hillier brings broad leadership experience spanning engineering, technology, operations and commercial management.

Ampetronic | Listen Technologies Strengthens Executive Leadership Team

Listen Technologies and Ampetronic have promoted Kevin Jewkes to SVP of global revenue and named Alan Kennedy VP of operations. Jewkes is responsible for Ampetronic | Listen Technologies’ overall sales strategy, sales operations, team leadership, and global go-to-market execution across North America and international markets. He strengthens and grows channel and partnership programs and works with the chief marketing officer and also collaborates with product management to ensure customer and market insights inform product strategy.

Kennedy is responsible for the strategy, performance, and scalability of the organization’s operational engine. He ensures that supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, quality, facilities, and IT operate as a unified system to reliably deliver products, support growth, and meet customer commitments. His background and experience are well-suited to translating company and product strategy into operational architecture that will enable the organization to scale efficiently.

Daktronics Sarah Rose Inducted to IDEA Hall of Fame

Sarah Rose, VP of global services at Daktronics will be honored by the Information Display & Entertainment Association (IDEA) at the 2026 IDEA Conference in Cincinnati, OH. Rose, along with John Adams of The Score, are two long-time fixtures in the sports industry who will be inducted into the IDEA Hall of Fame at a formal ceremony on July 15 during the conference.

Rose leads Daktronics’ global technical and professional services teams. She ensures they are fully equipped to deliver an outstanding customer experience by fostering a learning approach, both internally and externally. Previously, she managed the service teams for large sports venues, rental and staging, and international markets.

She has been a regular IDEA Conference attendee and influencer for more than 25 years. She represented a Daktronics team that received a total of 14 Allied Achievement GMAs and the President’s award in 1999. Her passion and activism for IDEA are always on display, serving on various committees, including Women and Inclusion & Outreach, which introduces high school and college students to careers in the industry.

Epiphan Video Appoints George Birchall as Chief Executive Officer

Epiphan Video has appointed George Birchall as chief executive officer. Birchall, formerly chief commercial officer, succeeds founder Mike Sandler, who will transition into the role of president.

Birchall has played a central role in expanding Epiphan's global commercial operations, deepening partner engagement, and driving the adoption of Epiphan solutions across multiple markets. As CEO, he leads the company's day-to-day operations, strategic growth initiatives, and ongoing investments in innovation.

FOR-A America Expands U.S. Sales Team

FOR-A America has added two regional sales leaders. Both Jaz Wray and Fernando Cruz come with a wealth of experience in SaaS platforms, AI-driven live production technology, and IP-based workflows. Cruz and Wray help advance customers’ vision and success with revived energy and excitement.

Wray’s sales and project management experience extends beyond media and entertainment to telecommunications, working with companies such as NEP, Ross Video, and Barco. Cruz led business development for the Corporate, Education, and Government segments of Sony Professional and Phantom/Vision Research, and most recently drove the global promotion and sales acceleration of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX solutions for Macnica Americas.

BirdDog's Entire Product Line Is Now NDI 6.3 Compatible

NDI announced that BirdDog has become the first hardware manufacturer to achieve full NDI 6.3 compatibility across its entire product lineup of cameras, encoders, and decoders. BirdDog hardware now natively supports NDI 6.3’s enhanced discoverability features. Those features include active Discovery Server registration through the new Sender Advertiser APIs, hostname-based device grouping, and real-time property broadcasting. This makes scalable IP video deployments far simpler, especially in segmented enterprise networks where that kind of simplicity has historically been difficult to achieve.

Before NDI 6.3, scaling across subnets was manual and complex. Discovery Server setup, IP tracking, and mDNS limitations made it difficult for sources and receivers to connect across VLANs. NDI 6.3 fixes that at the protocol level. Compatible BirdDog devices now auto-register with a central Discovery Server, route video via unicast, and send real-time status updates, significantly reducing deployment overhead.

Chyron Launches the All-New Chyron Academy:

The all-new Chyron Academy has officially launched, a ground-up redesign of the company’s product-training platform. Built on a fully custom, Chyron-branded learning experience, the new Academy replaces Chyron’s previous training system based on a third-party platform and launches with learning content covering the latest version of PRIME, Chyron’s flagship real-time broadcast graphics platform.

Chyron Academy is designed to serve two audiences at once: Customers and freelancers training on PRIME for the first time, and longtime Chyron users looking to become experts in the platform’s latest capabilities. Over the life of the previous legacy training program, more than 3,700 broadcast professionals registered to train on Chyron products, earning nearly 1,900 belt certifications across PRIME, PAINT, and Click Effects, including more than 60 Certified PRIME Black Belts worldwide. Chyron has transitioned that community to the new platform, migrating more than 950 current learners, along with the full certification history for every learner.

The redesigned Academy centers on a PRIME Belt certification path, taking learners through four levels—Yellow (Designer Basics), Green (Intermediate), Blue (Advanced), and Black (Expert)—with earned badges and completion dates appearing on each learner’s dashboard as a visual record of skill mastery. Every course module pairs a demo with a hands-on, full-screen simulation, so learners practice real PRIME workflows, such as building a lower-third graphic step by step, rather than passively watching video. An animated progress dial fills as learners complete demos, simulations, and quizzes, with a belt certification awarded automatically at 100% completion. Learners can enroll and move through the belt levels at their own pace. The program is suitable for individual learners, or supervisors or instructors can monitor the progress of their teams. The platform launches with five published PRIME courses spanning roughly 150 hands-on lessons, demos, simulations, and quizzes combined.

Owl Labs Launches Owl 360 Services

Owl Labs recently introduced Owl 360 Services, its first subscription service built to meet the needs of IT administrators. As organizations look to support hybrid work with deeper video enablement across more spaces, Owl 360 Services delivers three subscription tiers, offering dedicated support, centralized device management, proactive insights, and warranty coverage scaled to the size and complexity of the deployment.

The newly launched, highest-value Enterprise tier delivers a premium channel partner-only offering with advanced analytics, dedicated account management, and four-year warranty coverage, while the Enhanced tier will follow soon in Q3 with advanced analytics, dashboards, and API integrations. PlexusAV appointed SINIUS PRO GmbH as its distribution partner for Germany. The announcement follows a meeting at the EAV Group Solution Center in Heilbronn, Germany, bringing together the PlexusAV and SINIUS PRO teams. Through this partnership, SINIUS PRO will provide local market expertise, technical support and access to PlexusAV’s AV over IP solutions for system integrators and AV professionals across Germany.

Visionary Level 1 Technical Training Approved for AVIXA CTS Renewal Units

Visionary Solutions' Level 1 Technical Training has been approved by AVIXA as a CTS Renewal Unit (RU) Provider course. The in-person training program is approved for 3.5 renewal units for CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I and Audiovisual Network Professional (ANP) certifications through May 31, 2028.

Visionary's Level 1 course provides an introduction to Visionary's AV over IP product portfolio and the foundational knowledge required to deploy audiovisual systems. Designed for system integrators, IT professionals, and technical support personnel new to Visionary products, the course covers network configuration, VLite installation and operation, encoder and decoder configuration, deployment best practices, third-party control integration, and system troubleshooting.

Participants gain an understanding of core AV over IP concepts, Visionary's product portfolio and system architecture, network considerations for reliable audiovisual distribution and best practices for system design and deployment. Sean Shallenberger, director of sales, US, Adamson: One of the topics at Infocomm that we will probably have a lot of questions about is immersive audio. We’re seeing interest from consultants, integrators, and end users alike, all looking to better understand how this technology can be applied in real-world environments.

At the show, we will be demonstrating our own solution, the Fletcher Machine. We will show meaningful improvements in control, clarity, and overall audience experience.

Capabilities like precise localization, enhanced creative storytelling, and greater consistency across the listening area are reasons to look at an immersive solution. As a result, immersive audio is quickly shifting from a niche concept to a practical tool that many in the industry are actively exploring.

Mina Shin, vertical marketing manager, ViewSonic: We expect the buzz to be less focused on chasing "bigger and brighter" displays, and more focused on how to simplify solutions for use in real-world environments. We will be showcasing our MIP technology, which will certainly provide a "WOW" factor, but it’s not the whole story. We want customers and partners to understand real-world use cases, and how ViewSonic products and technologies can help them grow and expand. We also expect conversations to move toward removing the friction between technology and the people who use it every day. For displays, that means All-in-One innovations, easier-to-deploy setups, and enabling human experiences through AV technology.

Joel Mulpeter, senior director, product marketing at Crestron: We anticipate a focus on how systems connect and deliver real insight. AI generates a lot of attention, but translating its capabilities into a better understanding of the workspace and the workforce will be invaluable. Customers are looking for practical, scalable solutions that improve reliability and lead to meaningful outcomes, not just new features. This year at InfoComm, we’re telling a cohesive story that brings together our recent product introductions across content, collaboration, and control. Individually, these innovations solve real workplace challenges. Together, they help build environments where collaboration feels intuitive, productivity increases, and teams truly thrive.

Robert Detwiler, senior director of product management at Planar: As far as display technology is concerned, we expect to see significant advancements in visual performance, durability, and efficiency. This spans improved viewing angles, enhanced brightness, and color performance, protective treatments like encapsulation and designs for effective heat dissipation.

We see steady demand for ultra-wide format displays, especially in the case of supporting collaboration and enhanced productivity. Of course, with a growing emphasis on blending displays into architecture, we also find more manufacturers releasing creative platforms that support custom and visually distinctive installations. This includes curved displays, wrapped columns, halos, 90-degree right angle and cube designs that are being used to create truly one-of-a-kind deployments.

Karam Kaul, VP of audio, HARMAN Professional Solutions: At InfoComm 2026, we expect to hear a lot of buzz around performance-first technology, platform-agnostic AV, and simplified device configuration in AV ecosystems—trends that align closely with HARMAN Professional’s latest innovations... Rather than treating audio, video, and control as separate layers, we’re showing how a single, standards-based architecture can deliver consistent, predictable performance across the network, even in enterprise-scale environments.

Sean Bowman, associate VP of North America Sales at Shure: AI will be a major theme, especially how it’s being used to deliver real value to customers, applied to simplify workflows, save time, and improve collaboration. We’ll also see strong momentum around software, cloud platforms, and deeper integration between AV and IT systems...Our flexible solutions, available on Windows and Android, with devices certified for Microsoft Teams and Zoom, can be remotely managed via our cloud service, ShureCloud, providing IT teams and AV professionals global scalability and ease of management for any AI-powered environment.

Bob Caniglia, director of sales operations, Americas, Blackmagic Design: We’re seeing growing interest in IP-based workflows, remote production capabilities, and tools that reduce complexity without sacrificing quality. As more organizations are producing video content in-house, there’s a strong focus on solutions that are intuitive and robust, without requiring highly specialized teams to operate them...We’re highlighting how organizations can build end-to-end workflows that are easy to implement, cost effective, and still deliver broadcast-quality results. It’s less about any single product and more about how everything connects to support today’s level of content creation and distribution.

John Halksworth, senior product manager, Adder: We are expecting to see a big focus on interoperability, security, and the convergence of AV and IT. As systems become more network driven, there’s an increasing demand for solutions that are not only high performance but that are also scalable, easy to manage and secure. AI-assisted workflows and smarter, more intuitive system monitoring are also likely to be key themes with the overall conversation shifting from individual products to complete and integrated ecosystems and this is exactly where we’re focused.

Anna Kozel, VP of marketing at VuWall: We expect a lot of discussion around secure AV over IP, interoperability, and how AI-ready platforms will shape future control room workflows. As organizations manage more sources, data, and systems than ever before, the buzz will be around solutions that reduce complexity while improving operator efficiency and situational awareness...We’ll be introducing the fully rearchitected TRx 4.0, unveiling a new core platform, and showcasing G&D’s next-generation keyboard control devices—all designed to give operators faster, more flexible control of any source, on any display, across complex control room environments.

Mark Donovan, CTS-D, CTS-I, director of commercial applications at Audio-Technica: One theme we’re hearing repeatedly is predictability and simplification. Alongside conversations about innovation and performance, attendees are clearly focused on systems that scale without becoming fragile, that align with standard networked audio practices, and that reduce installation and support complexity over time. There’s a noticeable shift away from novelty for novelty’s sake and toward solutions that integrators can replicate across rooms and buildings with confidence. Much of the buzz comes back to trust—trust that systems will work as expected in real environments.

Darren Lin, CEO, MAXHUB US: We expect the buzz to center around AI, simplified deployment, and more integrated workplace experiences. Customers are looking for smarter meeting solutions, but they also want technology that is easy to deploy, use, and manage.

AI-powered features such as camera framing, speaker tracking, audio optimization, meeting capture, and automated summaries will continue to attract attention. At the same time, we believe there will be strong interest in solutions that reduce complexity across different room types. MAXHUB’s portfolio addresses this with all-in-one Microsoft Teams Rooms solutions, BYOD collaboration, LED displays, digital signage, portable capture, and cloud-based device management.

Paul Harris, CEO of Aurora: Dante over Wi-Fi will be the buzz as no company has successfully achieved that with a microphone/speaker system. Aurora's battery power SmartSpeak will show how effectively this can be done... [Aurora will be showcasing] Dante/AES67 over Wi-Fi, which is an industry first, along with over 10 new products including the new beamforming V-Array technology and AI-based control system code/interface creation tool.

Ivy Li, marketing director, Telycam: One of the biggest themes will continue to be the convergence of broadcast and AV workflows. Expectations for high-quality video experiences have expanded far beyond traditional media production, and users today increasingly expect broadcast-level production value in corporate communications, collaboration environments, education and live events. Ultimately, the goal is no longer just about technology itself, but about delivering better overall meeting and communication experiences.

Another key topic will be the continued maturity of IP-based infrastructure. AVoIP is no longer viewed as an emerging trend—it is increasingly becoming part of standard system architecture. Rather than replacing traditional video infrastructure entirely, IP-based workflows are now commonly deployed alongside conventional signal distribution systems as part of a hybrid environment.

Amy Zhou, director of sale, Magewell: We are very proud of our Pro Convert IP decoders because they make our customers very happy by solving their challenges in bridging IP-based media with traditional AV signals and devices. Our Pro Convert IP decoders are highly acclaimed for their rich feature sets, reliability, low-latency performance and versatility in Pro AV, broadcast and IT use cases. Our continued engineering efforts to strengthen integrations with third-party hardware and software partners add more advantages by empowering a broad ecosystem for seamless production and distribution workflows.

Steven Barlow, president, DVIGear: AI solutions, but a more grounded version than last year. Buyers have moved past asking why AI matters and are now asking to see real products and learn how they can actually use them. Vendors that can demonstrate this and who can answer the specifics will stand out. AI is the conversation across every IT category right now. Both integrators and end users want to see AI-based products that offer real and viable solutions. The show is the right venue to make that visible.

Catherine Koutsaris, product marketing manager, Matrox Video: Beyond the technology itself, I think attendees will be looking closely at what truly differentiates solutions in a crowded AV market. Customers are asking more questions about how technologies work together within real-world environments, rather than evaluating products in isolation. So, the conversation is shifting toward usability and interoperability. There will also be continued interest in AI, automation, and technologies that help teams boost productivity.

Mark Boyadjian, customer solutions director, Neutrik Group: I expect there to be a heavy focus on AI-driven integration and environments—focused within educational sessions and keynote speakers, along with new product development for real-world applications. We will also be part of the AVIXA educational sessions, teaching a Certified Renewal course for the first time. The session, “Neutrik AV Connectors—From Setting Standards to System Performance” will be taught by myself and fellow customer solutions engineer, Brant Mathiason.

Scott Bowditch, VP Sales, North America, Matrox Video: We expect strong interest around experiential technologies that combine LED environments, virtual production, and unified control workflows to help organizations deliver more engaging live audience experiences. We also expect continued industry focus on integrated AV ecosystems, interoperability and simplified production workflows as customers look to deploy scalable solutions in any live event environment across all markets.

Ken Eagle, CEO, Hall Research: AI will dominate the conversation, but not always in a meaningful way. There’s going to be a lot of “AI-enabled” messaging without clear, practical value.

The more important shift is happening underneath that: higher bandwidth demands, increased reliance on IP-based distribution, and the continued push toward unified connectivity standards. Integrators are looking for stability and interoperability more than hype. The companies that stand out will be the ones solving real deployment challenges—not just layering new features on top of existing complexity.

Gina Sansivero, VP of marketing and corporate communications, AtlasIED: AI is a topic that’s on everyone’s mind. With the rapid growth and advancements in AI within our industry, the discussions we have about it during the show are extremely valuable. From a product perspective, we are contributing to this conversation by highlighting our new AIX platform, which supports AI expansion and is compatible with advanced sensors. AIX is designed to adapt as intelligent security and AI technologies evolve to meet changing requirements. We look forward to discussing what’s next for AI on the show floor.

What a busy week it was in Pro AV. People were on the move, HARMAN opened a new Experience Center, Crestron announced a huge partnership, and we had a pair of acquisitions you may have missed.

There were two big acquisitions that went down on the same day last week. First, Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation started Tuesday morning bright and early, announcing it had acquired U.K.-based media technology company Hive Media Control (HIVE), strengthening its capabilities in media playback and control for immersive and fixed-installation environments. Later in the day, CTI announced its THIRD acquisition of 2026, acquiring Valley Communications Systems of Chicopee, MA. Audio-Technica Strengthens Leadership Team

Audio-Technica has announced key leadership appointments designed to further strengthen its sales organization and drive continued growth across the Americas. Mark Humrichouser has been promoted to VP, sales, U.S headquarters and System Solutions Group Americas. In this expanded role, he oversees brick and mortar sales, e-commerce, System Solutions Group (SSG) Americas Sales, broadcast sales, SSG Marketing and regional SSG initiatives.

Jim Schanz joined the company as executive director, System Solutions Sales, effective March 23, reporting to Humrichouser. He leads initiatives to strengthen pro audio channels, deepen customer relationships, and identify growth opportunities.

Brompton Technology Appoints New Regional Sales Manager for Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau

Brompton Technology has appointed Jude Lam as regional sales manager for Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. In her new role, Lam supports Brompton’s customers and partners across her territory, helping to deepen the company’s presence in the market and build on its existing relationships across the region.

Lam joins Brompton with strong industry experience spanning international LED sales, virtual production, and customer engagement across multiple territories. She spent time at AOTO, where she supported broadcasting and control room projects across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and more recently PIXREAL, where she worked on a number of key international projects.

Daktronics Welcomes Steffan Piolet to European Sales Team

Daktronics has expanded its international sales team with the hiring of Steffan Piolet to expand the company’s indoor and stadium projects in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe. EPOS Powers-Up Battery Replacement Strategy

EPOS is ’charging-up’ a battery replacement program to simplify a more sustainable future ahead of new legislation coming into force across parts of the world. Going forward all new product launches will provide the option to replace batteries with a simple paperclip or similar tool, rather than any complex or complicated procedures.

Søren Holm Printz, VP corporate strategy and product management, said EPOS is committed to extending the lifespan of its products by offering user-friendly battery replacement solutions. Designed as a purpose‑built business Experience Center, the space demonstrates how HARMAN Professional solutions address customer needs across multiple vertical markets through real‑world applications and collaborative engagement. More than a traditional showroom, the space has been reimagined as a platform for solution exploration, co‑creation, and executive engagement, reflecting the evolving ways B2B organizations navigate technology amid increasing complexity in today’s business environment.

PPDS has formed a new strategic partnership with leading Italian AV distributor, Prase, a Midwich Group company. Founded in 1993, and a Midwich Group Company since 2019, Noventa di Piave (Venice)-based Prase distributes an extensive range of AV and IT solutions with corporate, education, and retail among its core target verticals. PPDS recently joined Prase at MIR 2026, Italy’s largest AV event, which included the official launch and availability of the foldable and height-adjustable 135-inch Philips Unite LED 6000 Series AIO.

Originally, the KVM switch was originally created to improve the control of computers within data centers. They began as mechanical rotary switches that handled keyboard and video feeds, with mice being added in the 1990s after they became popular. Since then, KVM technology has evolved from analog to digital and added network connectivity, which has led to what is now called “KVM over IP.”

The space-saving and efficiency advantages offered by KVM switches explain their ongoing popularity. “KVM technology allows operators to control one or more computers from a separate location as if they were sitting directly in front of them,” explained Catherine Koutsaris, product marketing manager at Matrox Video. “KVMs are especially useful because they enable secure, high-performance remote access without compromising video quality, latency, or reliability. IP KVM systems transmit audio, video, and USB signals over standard networks, allowing workstations to be centralized while operators work wherever it makes the most sense, improving flexibility, security, and operational efficiency.”

That said, the days of the KVM switch serving merely as a remote control system for servers are over. “KVM’s real value is that it decouples people from places and humans from hardware," said Thomas Tang, president of Apantac. "Once broadcasters and others in AV start designing their workflows around this philosophy, KVM stops being infrastructure and starts becoming a strategy."

An Invisible Backbone

The ability to deploy KVM over IP has unleashed this technology’s potential, supporting the strategic transformation that Tang has alluded to. His view is shared by AV integrators such as Michael Blankenship, solutions architect at FORTÉ.

“In modern broadcast environments, KVM has evolved into a critical control layer that allows broadcasters to centralize computers, support flexible and remote workflows, and maintain frame-accurate control of high-performance systems without compromising reliability or security,” Blankenship told SCN. “Today’s KVM systems aren’t just keyboard and mouse switches. In broadcast and production, they function as workflow enablers, remote production backbones, space and infrastructure optimizers, and offer a security and resiliency layer.”

To prove his point, Blankenship noted that KVM allows studio and post-production computers to be removed from human-centric offices and relocated to secure server rooms. Doing so reduces noise and heat in the offices themselves, while maintaining real-time access to the equipment.

KVM is also being used in OB vans and live production trailers, allowing on-location operators to switch between multiple feeds and systems without latency. “For instance, Sky Germany uses G&D KVM for simultaneous live sports broadcasts, while Barco CTRL powers control rooms for utilities and media,” Blankenship offered.

“A strong example is entertainment solution company PRG’s deployment of Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extender for a large-scale entertainment event in Saudi Arabia,” Koutsaris added. “In this deployment, operators remotely accessed UHD 4K media servers over a 10 Gbps IP network, ensuring reliable control across long distances without sacrificing performance.”

Optimizing Workflows and Workspaces

Besides providing a critical control layer for broadcasters, video producers, and other content creators, KVM is solving other problems for them as well.

Case in point: “KVM technology is helping broadcast and production users transition from traditional SDI environments to flexible, IP-based workflows,” said Neil Firth, senior product manager at Adder Technology. “As operations become more distributed and dynamic, our award-winning ADDERLink INFINITY IP KVM range enables centralized and remote access to critical systems with ultra-low latency and pixel-perfect image quality. These key features allow production teams to work more efficiently, scale with confidence, and stay focused on delivering high-quality content rather than managing complex technology.”

KVM products also solve several critical challenges, including distance, scalability, collaboration, and reliability, Koutsaris said. “KVMs also enable multi-user access, allowing teams to collaborate more efficiently, and support long-distance fiber connections for large venues," she noted. "These capabilities reduce physical constraints, improve operational resilience, and help production teams maintain consistent performance in complex, high-pressure environments.”

By removing bulky hardware from operator desks, Blankenship said KVM resolves space and ergonomics issues. "It also helps maintain cybersecurity through network isolation while enabling operational control, and workflow efficiency through multi-view layouts, and quick switching that improves situational awareness," he added.

Current Tech Trends

We have seen just how far KVM technology has come from its humble analog beginnings. So, what's on the horizon? According to Koutsaris, the technology is evolving toward IP-first designs built on open standards, higher resolutions, and tighter integration with broadcast and Pro AV ecosystems.

“At Matrox Video, products like Avio 2 reflect this shift by supporting open standards such as IPMX, SMPTE ST 2110, and NMOS," she added. "Advances in IP KVMs now support higher resolutions and lower latency, making KVMs suitable not just for control rooms but also for live events, hybrid production, and distributed workflows.”

“KVM is constantly evolving to meet the increasing requirements for flexible systems, remote access, and high-performance workflows where purely software-based solutions can fall short of critical industry applications,” Firth said. “Our ARDx next-gen KVM over IP technology goes beyond the standard keyboard, video, and mouse extension by offering secure, scalable, and out-of-band remote access with no distance limitation. These key advances are responding to the various requirements of operators, while remaining collaborative and sharing information without boundaries.”

Speaking as an AV architect, Blankenship has seen several advances in the KVM space. “They include Barco CTRL’s Zero Trust architecture and multiview scalability to hundreds of sources,” he offered. “Also noteworthy is G&D’s ControlCenter-IP 2.0 with bluedec compression for pixel-perfect video and latency-free switching, and Thinklogical’s IA-accredited fiber-optic KVM matrix switches for multi-classification environments.”

For his part, Tang characterizes KVM over IP as the ever-evolving “dominant remote control paradigm” in AV that provides full remote access to systems over both LAN and WAN. “Unlike software-based remote tools, it enables true BIOS-level control, allowing systems to be accessed and managed even when the operating system is unavailable—a key capability supported by Apantac KVM solutions,” he explained. “This makes remote KVM especially valuable for broadcast operations with distributed teams, REMI workflows, and decentralized production hubs.”

Tang also noted that KVM technology has advanced significantly in video performance. “Modern KVM extenders now support higher resolutions and improved color fidelity over IP, while optimized compression and transport methods keep latency effectively imperceptible to operators," he continued. "Apantac KVM systems operate over standard 1 Gb Ethernet, regardless of whether the signal is FHD or UHD, minimizing infrastructure costs while still delivering ultra-low latency of approximately 17 ms. This combination of high image quality and low latency is critical in live production environments, where signal fidelity and operator responsiveness directly impact on-air performance.”

A Virtual Future

As for the future of KVM? Expect greater advances to come, going even further beyond KVM’s initial function as a remote control system for computers.

“KVM has a significant role in emerging areas such as virtual production, where live action and real-time rendering engines converge," said Firth. "As virtual production expands from its filmmaking origins into live broadcast environments, KVM can support increasingly complex, multi-system workflows by enabling flexible, centralized control. As this technology continues to evolve, KVM will adapt alongside it, helping production teams manage new tools and workflows while enhancing creative and operational efficiency.”

“KVM could solve potential issues in a variety of areas,” Blankenship added. “They include cloud and virtualization integration with virtual desktops and cloud workflows, AI-driven switching, and new markets for KVM such as healthcare, education, and esports for secure remote access.”

Ultimately, KVM is no longer about connecting a keyboard, monitor, and mouse to a remote computer; instead, it's about connecting creative intent to technical execution, regardless of physical location. As the AV industry embraces the cloud, AI, and virtual production, KVM will be the silent yet essential bridge that allows this industry to create—and work—without boundaries.

JH: Cybersecurity is an essential consideration when it comes to KVM over IP solutions, particularly as deployments become more connected. Security is no longer a feature but an essential requirement.

Advanced Systems Group Promotes Jody Boatwright to Chief Strategy Officer

Advanced Systems Group has appointed Jody Boatwright as chief strategy officer where he leads research and guides ASG’s future direction as the business evolves. Boatwright works across ASG leadership as well as industry leaders and economic issues that impact the company’s media and entertainment business. Boatwright’s experience as VP and general manager of Managed Services, a role he held for nearly 11 years, is directly applicable to this new role. As chief strategy officer, Boatwright is focused less on day-to-day operations and more on developing future-facing initiatives.

Before joining ASG to run the Managed Services team, he spent a decade in systems integration, often working directly with ASG as a strategic partner. He then spent nearly 11 years inside ASG, focusing on the services side of the business: managed service operations, production, creative services, and, most notably, building and leading the company’s managed services practice. That background allows him to step back and look across the entire business. He cited software-defined workflows, storage, and consulting as areas of focus.

Broadsign Accelerates APAC Expansion

Broadsign has made four key appointments across the Asia-Pacific region. OCVIBE and Daktronics Announce Technology Partnership

OCVIBE, the 100-acre mixed-use development transforming the area surrounding Honda Center, announced a partnership with Daktronics. The collaboration will bring a fully integrated digital display system able to power large-scale, high-impact digital moments across the OCVIBE campus. L-Acoustics Opens Americas Regional Headquarters in Nashville

Originally reported in December 2024, L-Acoustics has officially opened its first dedicated Americas regional headquarters in Nashville. Located within the CAA Creative Office Building at Nashville Yards, the new 11,100-square-foot facility features the first L-Acoustics Showroom with HYRISS on the American continent and an L-Acoustics Creative Studio equipped with L-ISA and L-Acoustics DJ technology.

SCN: What technology or industry trend will be providing the most buzz on the ISE 2026 show floor?

SCN: Which is more popular in today’s command and control facilities, traditional KVM or IP KVM?

DM: IP KVM is the preferred choice in modern Pro AV command-and-control environments. The adoption of this technology is accelerating due to its flexibility, scalability, and ability to support distributed workflows across locations. The modern sporting venue has evolved into a highly dynamic media hub, where switching, streaming, and real-time content production must operate with absolute precision. As arenas scale to support hybrid workflows, including remote and virtual production, one of the most impactful technologies behind the scenes is high-performance IP KVM. Its role in enabling flexible, secure, and low-latency access to distributed systems is becoming indispensable.

For switching and streaming today’s sporting events, three elements stand out. First, IP-based infrastructure has become the backbone for routing video, audio, and control signals at scale. Second, ultra-low latency workflows are essential to maintain timing accuracy between on-premise production, cloud services, and remote operators. In today's first edition of the InfoComm 2025 Impulses series, meet Duncan Miller, director of global marketing, Adder Technology.

SCN: What is your company’s main focus at the show this year?

Duncan Miller: We continue to see a shift towards IP KVM adoption over the traditional AVoIP technology, and as a leader in the IP KVM space, Adder will be showcasing the next generation of IP KVM in the Pro AV and control room space.

On the back of some recent product announcements, we’ll be debuting ARDx our new, out-of-band, KVM-over-IP technology, ideal for anyone looking for secure, highly flexible, remote access with high quality video, audio and USB connectivity. Another InfoComm ‘first’ will be ADDERView Matrix, a perfect IP KVM solution for space constrained control room environments, where quick installation and low maintenance are critical.

SCN: What buzzwords do you expect to be the talk of InfoComm 2025?

DM: Discussions around the impact of AI continue to be at the top of the list, although time will tell how AI will add reliable value in AV workflows. However, when we talk to customers at InfoComm, we continue to hear conversations about security, remote access to virtualized environments, and multi-viewer capabilities. This year, we know API and system integration into existing workflows will be a hot topic, and we’ll have some exciting API updates to demonstrate on our booth.

SCN: How does InfoComm inspire you?

DM: InfoComm is an important and highly influential event in the Pro AV space. We’ve been exhibiting here for 20 years and never get tired of seeing the latest technology innovations. There’s always a vibrant atmosphere at the show and it’s great to hear all the different ways our customers are using our technology to improve their workflows and productivity.

SCN: What are some of the advantages of KVM-over-IP connectivity?

DM: There are several key advantages that IP KVM brings to our Pro AV and control room customers. In addition to reliability, the flexibility and scalability of an IP KVM solution are key. Adding new endpoints easily or being able to quickly configure a secure KVM matrix, means customers have more time to focus on what matters to them. Another important factor is how an IP KVM solution seamlessly integrates with existing networks and workflows, which is why we’re showcasing the latest API features that further enhance how this can be achieved.

Whether 200 feet or 500 miles away, KVM switches enable users to operate a computer regardless of location, allowing the user to control and interact with it as if it were sitting beside them. By embracing AV-over-IP-based KVM systems, also known as KVM-over-IP, manufacturers can combine KVM switches with KVM extensions to manage thousands of designs for longer distances, providing clients with quick and easy access like never before.

“Even though KVM stands for keyboard, video, mouse, it can control any USB device—thumb drive headsets, printers, card readers, among others—and legacy serial control devices as well,” said John Hickey, senior director, KVM Business, Black Box Corporation. Along with typical Human Interface Devices (HID) such as keyboard and mouse, auxiliary signals such as analog or digital audio, RS-232/422, and legacy PS/2 devices can also be transmitted.

Embrace the Internet

Often, KVM-based systems digitize the signal and transmit it via copper Cat 6 cable or singlemode or multimode fiber options. “Copper connections normally allow transmission between an extender [endpoint] and switch up to 140 meters,” said Dan Holland, marketing manager for IHSE USA, LLC. “When connections are made with fiber, then transmission lengths can reach up to 400 meters [1,300 feet] with multimode and up to 10 km [32,800 feet] with singlemode fiber.” Standard desktop KVM switches, using standard cabling, have distance limitations roughly between 33-100 feet.

KVM matrix switches let you operate several computers via various consoles. “The system consists of three components,” explained Jon W. Litt, managing director of G&D North America. “A central module connecting user consoles and computers, computer modules transmitting signals from computers to the matrix and, lastly, console modules for connecting the consoles on which the operators work.”

The pandemic increased network demands to support a new reliance on remote work. KVM-over-IP systems allow users to connect with servers via LAN/WAN or the internet.

“Today, IP-based KVM systems enable remote workers to connect to key systems from home and operators working in a broadcast or network operations center to control equipment inside OB vans across the country remotely,” said Hickey. “While these and similar remote workflows addressed travel restrictions and distancing requirements as the pandemic peaked, they continue to reduce costs and travel time for media organizations and production teams.”

Short for extended display identification data, EDID is the industry standard for the information retrieved from a monitor that tells the PC what the monitor is capable of in terms of video and audio. KVM switches need to transport EDID information directly to the source to avoid transmitting conflicting signals and leaving the end user with a dark screen. “If the EDID is wrong, the PC may send a video or audio signal that is not accepted by the local display, and the image or audio will be compromised,” explained Paul Harris, CEO and CTO for Aurora Multimedia.

Latency Issues and Virtualization

Overloading KVM-over-IP networks can lead to one of the most significant limitations of KVM: latency. Sadly, breaching the law of physics to mitigate it isn’t possible. “If the internet has 100 milliseconds of latency between the user and a piece of gear, it takes 100 milliseconds for a mouse movement to hit the screen and another 100 to come back to the user,” said Hickey. “That’s 200 milliseconds of round-trip latency.”

For some, that level of latency may not be a significant disrupter, but for those engaging in real-time applications, anything more than 30 milliseconds will feel like a significant obstacle. Selecting the right product for your use case is essential to help mitigate latency issues.

As KVM technology continues to evolve, manufacturers are adapting to address the needs of various use cases, including broadcast, facility locations, and work-from-home networks. “Latency and 4K will continue to be leading issues for manufacturers to solve for their customer base, as systems migrate away from traditional analog or coaxial-type systems,” said Holland.

Manufacturers are addressing the growing needs of KVM technology through high frame rate (HFR) extenders for gaming, high dynamic range (HDR) for quality image processing, and lower latency for 4K production studios. “All this needs to be implemented cost-effectively while allowing connection to computers and workstations over IP networks,” added Holland. “To the user, real and virtual IP-connected devices appear like any other device on their workstation. Next-gen KVM-over-IP will provide this type of support, making it much easier to remote into any computer as if it is at the user’s desk.”

Virtualization is another trending tropic, with KVM systems needing to enable access to virtual machines on top of physical devices. “Microsoft's RDP and Teradici's PC-Over-IP (PCoIP) protocols make this possible," Hickey explained. "Support for this capability in a KVM system is key because more and more systems are becoming virtualized, and virtual machine sharing is becoming increasingly common. It’s another way to future-proof a KVM system investment.”

Another recent advancement involves interactivity amongst HD and 4K devices. Current KVM technology allows multiple users to access the same source without impacting each other’s work. That means one user can edit video on a 4K machine while another can work off an HD machine, and neither will experience any interruptions or delays. This allows individuals to work collaboratively without needing to invest in additional equipment.

Moving to Multiview

Present-day KVM systems are often constrained to a one-source-to-one-monitor model, but multiviewers allow users to take multiple sources using the same monitor. Moving forward, multiviewers will need to expand, allowing KVM users to login to virtual and physical sources in a customizable layout across multiple monitors to support their workflows.

“With access to many more sources on the screen, users can monitor multiple systems or windows in the background while focusing on a single task,” said Hickey. “They spend less time accessing different systems and enjoy greater awareness and responsiveness. That’s a big part of what’s next for KVM.”

Users rely on KVM technology to expand their desktops, increasing available workspace and allowing them to utilize multiple applications simultaneously without crowding the screen. “AV professionals are now asking to connect multiple monitors to a single workstation to improve daily work productivity," Holland explained, "and with the introduction of IHSE’s 4K/8K KVM extenders, users have the option of either mirroring the desktop onto the alternate monitor or extending the screen so that the desktop stretches across both displays."

System designers are finding KVM switches to be an ideal solution for streamlining data access while maintaining security and data quality. It’s optimal for organizations to obtain, process, distribute, and gather information effectively—and moving toward a more open-source infrastructure is critical for operational superiority.

“System designers moving toward UHD video are depending on standards bodies to reduce the confusion surrounding the latest 4K and 8K technology,” Holland added. “With the adoption of 4K and the potential of 8K in the broadcast and post-production industries, emerging features such as HDR and high bit rate resolutions are pushing the boundaries for KVM infrastructure and distribution equipment.”

Everywhere you look, audiovisual technologies are migrating to IP networks for a number of reasons, including the ease of scalability and the convenience of remote access. But, the process has been relatively slow as engineers work to clear hurdles of latency, quality, and security. 

For KVM solutions, these three drawbacks are a non-starter. Often found in mission-critical command and control environments, KVM-over-IP solutions need to be agile enough to enable fluid mouse movements, with high enough resolution to see With important details, and robust enough to meet standards of security and reliability.

KVM receivers act as a zero client to access both physical servers and virtual machines within a single KVM network. DM NVX technology supports the extension of USB signals, which can be switched and routed alongside the AV signal or separately via a control system. The OPS port of the DM-NVX-D80-IOAV includes USB 2.0 host port functionality, enabling the DM-NVX-D80-IOAV to function as a remote extender. The OPS port receives a USB signal from a KVM (keyboard, video, and mouse) device or other type of USB peripheral device. The USB signal is transported over the network to the USB 2.0 device port of a DM NVX device, which functions as the local extender and sends the USB signal to a USB host device (for example, a computer).

The Arqa KVM system utilizes an optimized video-over-IP transport technology that greatly reduces latency and provides instant control. Rigorous testing reveals no difference between operating a PC via Arqa, or having the connection direct to a local desktop. The convenience and benefits of KVM control are becoming increasingly necessary for control room architectures as security concerns increase and AV/IT teams aim for a more streamlined management process. Using Arqa, maintenance teams can have all PCs housed in a single location—saving time, desktop real estate, as well as keeping hardware secure. Extron NAV

NAV is a pro AV-over-IP solution for distribution and switching of low-latency, high-quality video, audio, and USB 2.0 signals over an Ethernet network at low bitrates. Utilizing Extron’s patented PURE3 codec, it delivers lossless video over IP at resolutions up to 4K60 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and ultra-low latency. The visually lossless video and ultra-low latency make it suitable for high-performance computing KVM applications or any other deployment where real-time interaction with pristine video quality is required. It also supports AES67 audio over IP, facilitating flexible integration with DMP 128 Plus DSPs or other IP-enabled audio components. The NAVigator System Manager features a user-friendly interface for centralized management and control of any NAV system, facilitating easy setup and configuration, plus extensive features for monitoring, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Purpose-built to support demanding professional KVM and AV applications, the highly scalable NAV platform enables secure deployment of AV and USB signals to thousands of endpoints.

G&D ControlCenter-IP

The ControlCenter-IP combines the advantages of classic matrices with the flexibility of IP systems. Any connected operator station can be granted access to any remote computer. While the network infrastructure takes over the transport of KVM-over-IP using network switches and routers, the ControlCenter-IP contributes the logic. Transmission takes place compressed via category cabling or optical fibres via standard IP-based networks, with a data transmission rate of 1Gbps per line. This enables existing IT installations to be scaled more easily, flexibly, and cost-effectively. The ControlCenter-IP system provides high-quality images and uses the in-house compression technology HDIP. This compression mode allows the lossless transmission of video signals with a resolution of up to 4K at 60Hz. In combination with IP extender systems for DP1.2a and DP1.1a as well as single- and dual-link DVI, it supports a wide range of video signals and resolutions up to 4K over IP. With the ControlCenter-IP, users can integrate generic USB devices and high-speed USB 2.0 into KVM-over-IP installations. It also provides a MatrixGuard function for extra security in case of failures. The MatrixGuard enables the implementation of secure, redundant clusters in a KVM-over-IP environment.

IHSE SIRA

Last year IHSE introduced a virtual KVM solution enabling virtual servers to co-exist as part of an existing Draco tera KVM switch system, creating a streamlined multitasking virtual environment where multiple operating systems and applications could be accessed directly from a physical KVM console. This year, IHSE has expanded those network capabilities by introducing the Secure IP Remote Access (SIRA) line of IP KVM solutions. SIRA includes a host of gateway and remote access products that create hybrid KVM solutions. The new SIRA models reduces the time and cost associated with managing multi-site computer sources by combining networked workstations and local computers under a single secure display management system. SIRA connects the KVM matrix to private or public TCP/IP networks, bringing more flexibility to a Draco tera matrix without sacrificing the philosophy of securely isolating the core matrix and signal management from TCP/IP. Key Digital KD-IP1022ENC/DEC

Key Digital's KD-IP1022ENC and -DEC are 4K UHD AV-over-IP encoders and decoders with independent video, audio, KVM/USB routing, and video wall processing. It features audio de-embed with volume, delay, and bass/mid/treble control, a two-port PoE LAN switch, HDMI pass-through, three-port IR, and RS-232. For AV over IP, they utilize a managed gigabit network switch to enable video distribution, matrix switching, and extension. For video wall processing, the encoder and decoder systems create video walls with up to 16 vertical and 16 horizontal monitors. Users can also create mosaic video walls using displays of varying sizes and positioning. Begin from templates of popular layouts or create fully custom layouts with graphical assistance using KDMS Pro software instead of terminal coding. With independent switching, video, audio, and USB switching are all independently routable for multi-layer systems. Three multi-function ports may be used as third-party control interface, Compass Control Pro master controller, control extension via IP, or callable via KeyCode open API.

Matrox Extio 3

Now available with private wide-area network (WAN) support, Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders enable organizations to introduce new remote work and collaborative workflows by allowing users to access, share, and control any centralized workstation located in another building, campus, or city. Featuring 4K and multi-display extension and switching support, the high-performance Extio 3 enables a secure and seamless remote desktop experience critical for a wide range of control room applications, including process control, industrial and automation, military and defense, broadcast, medical, education, and more.

tvONE Magenta Pathfinder

tvONE's Magenta Pathfinder provides a scalable, zero-latency KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse and transparent USB 2.0) extension and switching solution for 4K and HD sources capable of more than 3,000 high-quality endpoints using standard IT network switches. Pathfinder offers plug-and-play setup with no configuration of endpoints required, nor any costly user licensing fees. Pathfinder can extend and mix 4K and HD sources via category or fiber cable to create a flexible, wide-reaching KVM matrixing solution. Advanced features include the ability to monitor and control up to four PCs from a single 4K monitor, while using only a single keyboard and mouse to control the PC of your choice. Alternatively, take your extended PC desktop to dual displays via a Pathfinder TX/RX pair. Pathfinder has two configurations: The Pathfinder 800 series offers DisplayPort 1.2 support at 4K60 4:4:4 at a data rate of up to 10Gbps, and the Pathfinder 500 series offers DVI-I, HDMI, and VGA support at 2K60 with HDCP1.4 and a data rate of 1Gbps.

The What: Adder Technology has announced updates to its ADDERLink INFINITY 4000 Series (ALIF4000), available for all new and existing customers. The enhancements include support for multi-gigabit Ethernet, improved video resolutions, and advanced diagnostics.

The What Else: As adoption of 4K continues to rise, so does the need to maximize available bandwidth without sacrificing image quality. To meet this demand, Adder has introduced multigigabit Ethernet support to the ALIF4000 range. This functionality empowers customers to balance their video quality and bandwidth usage requirements by delivering 4K over varying network capabilities, from 1Gbps to 10Gbps.

Integrated 1GbE ports enable delivery of 4K60 video over ubiquitous 1Gbps copper links using 100m of standard Cat-5e or Cat-6 cable, while dual multigigabit or 1GbE ports can be teamed together for enhanced resiliency or improved video capability.

The latest release also delivers an immersive sound experience at the desktop, via DisplayPort digital audio. This new functionality negates the need for separate audio routing systems and enhances the “at-the-PC” user experience. A new onboard diagnostics tool allows customers to troubleshoot the KVM network, improving productivity and maximizing uptime for the customer.

The What: Adder Technology is set to begin shipping ADDERLink ipeps+, an evolution to its ipeps range of remote access products. 

The What Else: Featuring a host of technological developments, ADDERLink ipeps+ is designed to bring enhanced remote access functionality to all industries where security and video quality are business-critical.

In many markets, where computers are situated in restricted or difficult-to-access areas, such as industrial sites, silicon fabrication plants, and offshore locations, the need for secure and responsive remote control is paramount. Any delay, even if only a second, could affect the entire operation.

In response to this need, Adder has developed the ipeps+ to provide smooth-motion video at up to 30fps together with 24-bit color depth over IP. This addition to the Adder portfolio enables organizations to securely view and edit HD video from anywhere in the world as if they were locally connected to the target computer.
